At least nine people were killed and 30 hospitalized after a fire tore through a Massachusetts assisted living facility, officials said Monday.
Five firefighters were also injured as they tackled the deadly blaze that broke out around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Residence in Fall River, fire officials said.
“We do have fatalities and multiple injuries,” Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon told WJAR of the blaze at the facility that is home to around 70 residents.
The bodies of some of the dead remained inside the facility on Monday morning, Fall River Mayor Paul Coogen told WJAR. At least one of those hospitalized remains in critical condition.
The cause of the blaze, which was contained to one wing of the building, is still under investigation.

Checked it out on google earth. Place looks kinda sketchy. Especially for folks with limited mobility.

That’s the town where Lizzie Borden (allegedly) did her mayhem in 1892:
She was acquitted, ftr.

That’s one hell of an assistance they gave them

It doesn't look like the residents had much assistance

Obviously could be just about anything, cigarettes and oxygen, but my money is on microwave
My mom's facility recently had to have all of them removed due to multiple incidents

Pictures show most of it still standing and that it's three stories high. Rather colorless which fits that part of near coastal New England. Each room appears to have it's own bathroom, so if the residents can get themselves to a toilet, why not to staircases?
