What I think is bullshite is how futures months out dictate price at the pump daily. 80 per bbl shouldn't be $3.35 pg.

never got how gas at the pump prices can spike when the price of oil goes up for gas that's already in the tanks, pipelines, trucks, etc., en route to the retailer

It's great for the Louisiana, Texas and OG sector economy. Families who saw bbl fall to $40 bbl can now go back to a normal life.

sure. there’s work now.
doesn’t mean companies aren’t being effected by all the other issues with this shite economy.

I swear I want to say there are laws in Texas that prevent stations from changing pump price on a tank before the depletion of it. I'll have to look it up again though.

there couldn't be unscrupulous, opportunistic gas station operators out there, could there?

Luckily sub1, she keeps driving a new ‘09 when you aren’t home.

slight tangent...my wife spent $390 at the grocery today, and none of it was Thanksgiving supplies.

3 of us in the house. I know I am an old bastard whose brain is back in the 80s, but damn.

Trump didn’t import a Saudi’s barrel of oil for like 24 months. And gas was under $2.

here’s how this happens:

Democrats:
STEP 1: Fossil Fuels = bad
STEP 2: Energy Companies = evil
STEP 3: We must phase out fossil fuels
….
STEP 4: Energy companies reduce production
STEP 5: Demand continues to increase
STEP 6: Energy prices sky rocket
STEP 7: Inflation enters the chat
Democrats:
STEP 8: Energy company = evil for causing high prices

STEP 8 was today as President Biden asked the FTC to investigate oil companies. Yes, this is on the current administration and the very out in the open war they’ve been waging against American O&G companies. For who? A couple of purple haired nobodies on Twitter? Or an autistic little girl who yells at people from Europe?

I remember a time in the not so long ago past when I didn't give a frick what OPEC said because I had American workers of all races and religions refining American gas.

It's not just Trump vs. Biden. We didn't hear jack shite about OPEC from about 1985 until a few months ago. I honestly figured they'd broken up, like the Southwest Conference or something.

This is entirely an issue of supply and demand. Supply was restricted during lockdowns as was demand, now lockdowns are lifted and supply cannot keep up with demand, like we are seeing in literally every other industry in the world right now.

You know you are exactly right, it’s crazy how the supply and demand curves jumped so suddenly after Election Day 2020 to make the price go from falling to rapidly increasing just as the candidate who had openly opposed the oil industry was elected

Wild stuff those supply and demand curves….
