That little neighborhood around W Parker used to be where all the poor students lived about 30 years ago. The college experience is definitely far different now than it was just a couple of decades ago if this is what students are living in now.

Construction crews are expected to demolish the University View Apartments near LSU soon to make way for a new apartment complex known as The Vue on Parker.

Dallas-based real estate developer Fountain Residential Partners looks to build the new 294-bed student housing apartment complex near the intersection of West Parker Avenue and Gourrier Avenue on a triangle-shaped lot.

The luxury complex will have 132 units ranging from studios up to 5-bedroom apartments which are fully furnished. The complex will have a pool, gym and private study rooms on the property. Each room is expected to have granite counters, 60-inch flat screen televisions, washer and dryers inside the unit and a parking garage. The company looks to open in fall 2023.

They've been building places like this in college station for the last 10 years. They're all so expensive I'm wondering how college is remotely affordable anymore.

El Cid is in danger of being redeveloped.

That area is thriving with high end apartment complexes; El Cid and Bordeaux right around the corner.

Austin has been doing the same thing, building apartments like this one and towers all over west campus. so everything in the area walking distance to UT costs $800/month and up

The area by West Parker could be pretty cool.

But yeah...it's definitely getting better at the expense of Tigerland.

As long as El Cid stands, the world is fine.

I think Gaslite will end up getting demolished before El Cid.

The life cycle of new to old to section 8 will keep rolling. There's no way LSU needs this much housing near campus.

That means there will be a further ghettoization of the older complexes downstream in the college housing marketplace. Watch for more Section 8 in Tigerland/Brightside.

ETA: Ingeniero beat me to it.

I remember the days when luxury apartment meant a doorman and valet.

That would be blasphemy! El Cid is an OT classic.

This is a direct result of the social media sensationalism of upper class girls from the south attending out of state SEC or other southern school for no apparent reason except to draw attention to themselves

Private investors keep pumping millions of dollars into the area around LSU. Development is heavy on campus, north of the campus and south of the campus.

Meanwhile little has been done to improve traffic or drainage. Law enforcement also has been neglected.

It’s starting to hit the fan already.

It's not. Just get a government backed loan and hope they forgive the debt.

At least it seems that is the way it works now. I had to take semesters off to work and pay for that shite.
