What about that wacko shaving her head on stage
She's not a wacko. It's Rachel Eggie Gibbs (SJA and LSU grad), and she owns Eggie Salon on Goodwood. Lots of people shave their heads in solidarity with people undergoing cancer treatment. IMO it's a sweet gesture and just a tribute to why they were really all gathering - cancer research/support fundraising.

Man a lot of people here sure are petty bitches. How can y'all sit there and get mad at people raising money for cancer???
Sure they are using it as an excuse to get dressed up and have fun for a night, oh the horror, whoopty shite, get over yourselves you judgemental pricks. It's for a great cause and they are doing more than you sacks of shite are for the cause

First time on the OT? They hate everything here. It is a cesspool of jealousy and hate.

I think everyone here agrees it's for a good cause Doug, I think the problem is that it comes off as trashy.

I guess I just don’t see that. How are people gathering at a place and dressing up trashy? They’re not bringing it out somewhere and forcing anyone to witness/be a part of it. They’re just.. going to the River center and attending?

I think peoples point is that none of those people set out and say “We’ve got to get together and raise money for cancer! Let’s donate to the cause and also goto this event”
It’s 100% a look at me 40k millionaire fest that happens to also raise money for cancer

She owns a salon and isn’t a wacko? That would be a first

Zero point in arguing with these fools, lol. It's an incredibly fun event that also happens to raise money for a good cause. I believe it was you who said earlier, it's basically a Mardi Gras ball but in August. The OT has become a really sour bunch.

“For the past seven years, 82 cents of every dollar received has gone to support the treatment, research and future needs of St. Jude.”
I know this was ACS but zero dress money went to research.
Have attended the event many times, donated time, money and product to the event. When my dad was diagnosed just a few weeks ago I felt it was better to actually donate money directly than to ask 8 friends to come sit at “my” table and eat the same lame short rib again.

This event would’ve caught shite on any iteration of the OT since Chicken launched TD

The board spends more money at Superior “meetings” throughout the year than they actually donate to the cause. Lol

I realize you aren't responding to me, but that dress money was never getting donated in the first place. I do have a love/hate relationship with this kind of thing, and I completely see your point.
I do believe that many people wouldn't donate as much if they weren't having such a great time. My husband and I have definitely woken up from these things and wondered what on earth we bought the night before.

Aren't they all volunteers anyway?
95% of the people going to these things don't donate money or anything. It's largely just businesses donating and people going on their dime.

No way. I know I'm a relatively recent poster, but I was a serial lurker for years prior. The OT used to be fun! Crazy stories with hilarious dialogue sprinkled with breaking news before the media picked it up. It was my entertainment.
Now it's akin to the National Enquirer. It's a race to see who can find the most depressing and/or gruesome story OR to just complain about anything and everything. The OT has become a sad place. Some of y'all really need to learn how to have fun.
