maybe we’d be better off without telling everyone that they need to arm up?

But why is it ok for you to tell people they can't arm up? Do you have some special insight that no one else has?

I agree. The stockpile is entirely too low. Very unhealthy.

A glock on every nightstand!

Blows my mind how anybody could not want to have the right to own a gun.

We all have a 2A right. If you’re being hunted by some crazy dude you met in Grindr, by all means defend yourself.

But to me, gun ownership is like fricking. If you do it, fine. But please
-don’t burden the rest of us if you make a poor choice.
-don’t tell me about it. I don’t need to know.
-don’t go around preaching to everybody they should do it because it’s best for everyone. It’s good for some, definitely not for others.

Why do you not what to own one? What makes your choice superior?

Imagine the mental gymnastics needed to come up with this thought.

Shootings correlate to age, race, and sex much better than simple ownership. Not even close.

Because if every man, woman, and child had been exposed to guns at a young age and had it drilled into the that they are not toys and the enormity of the responsibility that comes with holding one, politicians wouldn’t be coming after legal gun owners by making it suck to abide by the law.

So what's a real world scenario you would like to see given that we have that pesky 2A?

It is possible to own a gun and still believe that universal gun ownership is a bad idea.

Reasons someone might not want to own gun:
- poor impulse control.
- mental disorder.
- just can’t let it go that ____ did that thing that ruined my life!!!
- is an angry drunk.
- superhero complex combined with misguided self-righteousness.
- poor aim.

Again, how would you rectify all this in the real world? We know where you stand from a philosophical/utopian standpoint, but we just so happen to exist in a different reality from the one in your dreams.

In one fantasy world, nobody owns guns and we all live in peace.

In the opposite fantasy world, everyone is armed, there is a clear line between right and wrong, and disputes of righteousness never happen.

For now, I’d settle for a world that doesn’t try to convince itself that survival demands a bigger, more lethal stockpile.

I'd like to see a world where people mind their own business, government doesn't try to subjugate its citizens, and every neighborhood is safe from violence and criminal activity

But that isn't happening. So we have guns.

That's not an actual answer.

Has never happened and will never happen.

Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. To expect that is naïve and ignorant.

Yeah, let's take the guns away from everyone. That will work out so well. I'm sure all the criminals (some you actually described above) will turn theirs in and not do anything bad to those law abiding citizens who don't have guns in your narrow sighted view.
