2011 Chevy Equinox stalling/rough idle. Does my car have the AIDS/Ebola?

Thinking it's something electrical/sensor related...

It's the 4 cylinder. 80K miles. No CLE or other indicator lights.

Ran fine out running errands. Parked, came out, and it started fine but would die as soon as I accelerated. Will rev freely without hesitation in Park/Neutral, but surges a little at idle. Dies as soon as I start accelerating in Drive.

Ideas? I'm planning on just disconnecting the battery overnight and crossing my fingers for right now.

If I said it was a GMC Terrain would it be better?

No way of knowing without hearing/seeing, but sounds a lot like an airflow problem. I would start by by cleaning the throttle body since that's simple and basically free, but it does sound like a sensor issue if it dies while accelerating.

Our Honda had this problem once. Have you had your air filter changed lately? Not sure of your configuration, but on ours there is a little hose the connects from the back side of the air intake manfold to the engine that became disconnected (Yes this all needed to be disconnected to change the air filter ). It's the PCV fresh air intake line. After I found that and connected it back that solved the problem.

That's one cause. It could be a number of other things, though.

the cam shaft sensor can cause this by getting gunked up, if you don't change your oil regularly or over due for one. we just went through this with my wife's car we changed the oil and now it's fine.

Wife's 2010 Equinox had similar problems.. It was very noisy and would fail to crank almost daily. When it did crank it would vibrate when idle. Took it to the dealership several times and they couldn't find any issue with it.

Just traded that biatch in for a Camry.

(In)Vernal Equinox is also the Ides of March in 2015.

Watch your back, Ceasar.

Your first mistake is letting us know that it is your sweet ride.

Say it's your sister's, all we'll ask for are pictures of her but at least you'll have your manhood.

Rabble, rabble, rabble, Equinox, rabble, rabble, glory hole, rabble, rabble, rabble....

Had the same thing happen in a Tahoe once right after I changed the battery. I kept taking it out and putting it back but nothing worked. Turned out to be an electrical issue. Had to tow it in and it was about $200 to fix.

I was bored at work and did a little googling. Pretty sure this is your issue. LINK

They don't make them like they used to. I distinctly ordered the Antarctic blue Super Sports Wagon with the CB and optional rally fun pack. They tried to give me the metallic pea which I turned down.

We use to own a 2011 GMC Terrain... same car. What a POS it was.

The timing chain problem is well documented!!

Check your oil, as you are probably are low, due to it burning excessive oil.

They will replace the timing chian and fuel pump. It should be covered under your power train warranty and the dealership should know about it through the tech bulletins.

My next piece of advice is that is just a temporary fix.

Sell that car to some poor soul

Looked up the info..

Sounds like a mass airflow sensor.

I vote for this one. Had a Ford Ex py that did this. Spray clean it on the inside and it was good for awhile.
