2018 study. Study also shows that 4 out of 5 Americans under the age of 45 can not pass it.

To pass the test, you need to correctly answer 6 out of 10 general questions about history and civics (When I took it, they were 50 questions). Mind boggling when you think of all the money pumped into the educational system. Also, I think our current culture doesn't emphasize knowing anything about our history or civics. This can't be good longterm. How can you love a country if you don't know anything about it?

Seems like one of the required questions should be "Do you like this country?" And at this point, half the country would say no.

Citizenship is a racist, sexist and transphobic construct. What’s important is that our American subjects understand how best to serve the needs of The State .

In Tennessee you have to pass a civics test to graduate from high school.

Well. That's the point.

This is kind of the point. The left wants kids growing up hating themselves, their parents, and their country. Those kids can be easier molded into good little Marxists.

The what? Seems like the first place cuts are made are to public education. The school system is an absolute joke, piecemealed together because of the lack of funding.

Of course I can. I was born here, so I'm a citizen.

They try to steer kids toward socialism and communism. Teaching actual history does the opposite.

where is the test - and based on the Roe b.s. I'm not he least bit surprised that people would fail a civics test - one guy on this very board was comparing Roe to gun and religious rights.

I think we should have to take something like this to be allowed to vote.

The following short paragraph from the article says it all. My only disagreement with it is it's not surprising at all

"Surprisingly, the poll found stark gaps in knowledge depending on age. Those 65 years and older scored the best, with 74 percent answering at least six in 10 questions correctly. For those under the age of 45, only 19 percent passed with the exam, with 81 percent scoring a 59 percent or lower."

Are you serious? Most public schools in LA have budgets per student higher than those of private school tuition. They are funded just fine. The problem is all the 6 figure administration and non-teaching entities as well as our state using public education as a jobs program as opposed to an education program.

On a 10 question test, you can only receive Scores in 10% point increments. What the hell is the point of the last half of this sentence?

This is all part of the plan. If you never teach the students the history or the civics of this nation, they’ll never give a frick about it. And in some cases, they’re being taught the wrong stuff.

6 figure administration

We agree on this part. So I guess I am mistaken.
The problem then is the misappropriation of funds. My wife is a teacher in EBR and I know that they never have funds for anything.
