Assuming the job is basically the same, which do you choose? Pretty normal hours 9:80 schedule.

ETA: moving is an option by wouldn’t make the commute much better. Couple kids middle school aged. No early afternoon extracurriculars now but I know that could change.

Are you married? Do you have kids? Close to home is always good.

Heck even of no spurs or kids, close to home is good.

I'd take the shorter commute assuming that I didn't need the extra money.

How many miles are you driving for this 50 minute commute anyway? I’d prepare for some major wear and tear to appear on that car.

You won’t even notice the difference between 130k and 150k

You will notice the difference between 25 minutes and 50 minutes

So you’d give up $20k to spend about an hour on the road than 2? What are you doing during that extra hour of the day that would be so valuable?

What's the commute? Traffic or distance? If distance I don't know because you can never shorten it. If traffic probably because you may shorten it with odder hours for the 150k. I'd probably do the more money either way though.

Spending time with family

I would hardly even notice the difference between those two incomes tbh.

You need to re-evaluate your life if you don’t see how debilitating losing 5 hours a week would be. For $20k when already making a very healthy salary? Not worth it at all.

A person that has to bear the costs of having children wouldn’t notice having an extra $20k in the bank over a year?

Okay.

I do a similar commute. Would I like it to be shorter? Sure. Would I take $20k less to have it? Absolutely not.
