The 126 cases of people having contracted COVID even after being fully vaccinated is a small fraction of the number of people who have completed the vaccine series. As of the most recent data, 782,189, people have been fully vaccinated in Louisiana. The 126 people represent .02%.

"Keep in mind that these vaccines are highly effective — 95% for Pfizer, 94% for Moderna and 73% for Johnson & Johnson

seems like the vaccines are much more effective than 90% in Louisiana. guess this means we can open up. none of the reported cases were symptomatic either. all were caught during routine screening

I don’t recall them saying you won’t get covid if vaccinated. Mostly to reduce sickness and avoid death and hospitalization. Why is this even a story?

Your post doesn’t seem to match the intent of your title.

You seem to still be under the impression the restrictions have anything to do with “public safety”. That train left the station a year ago. This is now nothing more than political virtue signaling/combat combined with government power grabs.

It wouldn’t matter if the vaccines were 99.999% effective

Same thing happens with the flu vaccine. If you test positive, it’s basically a cold.

Still less than the survival rate

Well people think they are 100% immunized.

When it just says it lowers your risk of death and hospitalization.

so nearly as big a percentage get it after vaccinated as die when contracting the virus.

sounds like reason enough to destroy our world.

I am just checking in to say that we are fortunate to live in a time where modern medicine is so advanced. And unfortunate to live in a time where The State is using medicine and health to abridge our Constitutional Rights.

I am not looking forward to Wednesday or Tuesday afternoon after I get my 2nd dose on Tuesday morning of the Pizer vaccine.

Two weeks from the 2nd dose, this crap will be over for me, and it is no mask for me. I am going barefaced everywhere.

Bring on the COVID.

It's annoying, but not that bad (mild headache yesterday 2-3 hours after the shot, sore joints today). Tylenol* seems to help. *Not Advil and not before the shot.

And yes, I live next to UAB, which requires a mask while walking OUTSIDE on campus. Wondering if I should have a mini -bonfire of my pile of masks on the campus green. Ah, probably not a good idea.

How much greater than 99.97% chance of survival can you go

Why call it a vaccine, then?

I wonder how many are false positives because the article says most were asymptomatic. The false positivity rate on the antigen test is around 2% and .5% on the PCR test. There is a study published by the FDA that says false positives are expected to be greater than 50% in populations with low transmission. FDA article

From the article

quote:

At 0.1% prevalence, the PPV would only be 4%, meaning that 96 out of 100 positive results would be false positives.

Apparently reduces infections by over 90% so you can put the "it's not a vaccine" talking point away.

Math doesn’t work like u are trying to make it out. Just because 126 out of 1m vaccinated get Covid. Doesn’t mean we are better then 90%. How many of the 1m were actually exposed and then tested positive?

But any way open it up. Most high risk have been vaccinated. So those not are mostly low risk.

Get mine in an hour. I have felt like crap since the first dose.

I dread the second.
