There are rumors, just rumors, that the Chiefs are willing to get rid of Peters. It also seems this is likely since they just signed David Amerson.

What would a top tier CB like Peters cost? Surely a first round pick? More? I’d rather see us take a LB with our first round pick but what if the FO signs a LB like Nigel Bradham or Tahir Whitehead and then decides to try and trade for Peters? Would you be cool with this?

Lattimore and Peters in the same secondary...dear god

Nope.

He's a top tier cornerback, but you get him for 1.7mil then 9.5mil 5th year option...which realistically means you lose the rookie scale value.

He's also going to fetch close to top 5 money, if not top 5 money when he's up.

I'd say a 2019 2nd or maybe the 2018 and 2019 3rds, but any more than that is kind of too much just because of future cost into consideration.

No.

Guy screams Jairus Byrd trajectory to me. Led the NFL in picks since he came into the league ... won't get those on his 2nd contract

Plus he is a verified locker room cancer. I like what our defense has when it comes to character. Keep it that way. We have a better CB1 anyway.

Pass. I'd rather try for a LB or TE in the draft. Either Rashaan Evans or Mark Andrews.

Evans is a smart kid that actually comes from good stock.

I posted on here several times about Reuben Foster being dumber than dirt and I will stand by that.

Evans actually took some AP classes in high school at one of the top High schools in Alabama.

With Drew at this stage of his career and with all the rookie contract guys coming up to FA around the corner you keep your money invested in the rookie scale and resigning your own outside of bargain FA deals.

The 1st round pick with the 5 years of locked play is just too invaluable. Cooks was a hit and we got 3 good years out of him before flipping him into a cheap starting RT for the next 5 years.

If Breaux is healthy, we likely have the strongest trio of corners in the league.

We desperately need an influx of talent at the following positions on D:

DE - If Okafor isn't resigned, still need a good young rotational player either way
OLB
SS
MLB

Would all be better targets on D, either in the draft or via the trade market.

Breaux is suspect, let him go.

We can keep him for cheap though.

no, but I'd trade it for an impact TE, DE or LB in that order.

So basically two years at 5 per for a top 5 CB in the league? I'm not sure I want to give up a first which is what it will take it sounds like, but since we're picking so late in the 1st I wouldn't be completely opposed to it.

Lattimore, Peters, Crawley as a starting nickel with Breaux and Williams rotating in is probably the best secondary in the league on paper.

I know Smith isn't making it to us, and I would be thrilled if Evans made it to us.

Nah peters is a joke. He walked off the field before the most important play of the game. Guy doesn’t event belong in the league. He has been nothing but a problem.
