Sure. He doesn’t lose games. He doesn’t win them either. He keeps you in it and comes out on top

If JW gets high dollar you could do worse in the short run.

Dallas would possibly be one of them if they feel Dak won't be ready or isn't worth the risk.

Dallas will probably tag Dak again.

I think they pay him what he wants this year.

I see him signing long term.

I don't know. He is coming off a pretty bad injury. I can see them hitting him with a tag and making sure he gets back to his form first. Problem is, if they tag him again he might want out of Dallas.

I get what you’re saying, I just see Wash as a shite show on offense and it would be hard to determine the quality of Smith because of the team’s dysfunction

I think he'd be a good tweener for the immediate post-Brees era.

Mahomes raves about how well Alex mentored him during his rookie year in KC, and when he's healthy he's a pretty dynamic player. Not the strongest arm in the world, but has a great head for the game.

If (when) Brees retires, and if Winston isn't the long-term answer (we know that Captain Swiss Army Knife isn't the answer), then I think bringing in Alex on a one-year prove-it contract and drafting someone like Ehlinger from Texas for him to mentor would be an excellent plan.

I agree he won’t win a SB, but I wouldn’t judge him based off of his time w Wash.

Washington's line wasn't so good this year. Given a little more time in the pocket, Alex would have done MUCH better than his recent record indicates.

The Saint's OLine is SOOOO much better than WFT's it would be night and day.

Would Alex take us to the SB and win it? Probably not. But the option of taking him and a promising understudy this coming year is a good long-term future bet.

I agree 100% with this. I think he would be able to mentor someone young while also being successful with the Saints.

This is way too much enthusiasm for Alex Smith. Be honest, you didn’t watch him play much last year.

I'd rather Alex Smith over Jameis period.

Because Smith has a history of actually being a good QB.

He has a history of being successful at not losing games when he has a great defense.

History
That’s not who he is any more.
His 16 starts + 2 relief appearances in Washington looked like this:
16 TD’s, 13 INTs, 8 fumbles, 580 Attempts, 64.3 completion %, 3762 yards, 6.5 yards per attempt, 82.6 Quarterback rating.
Those numbers are bad.
