Would you enjoy an annual Saints game on Thanksgiving?
Posted by Drew Brews on 11/26/20 at 1:03 pm1414
I often wonder if it gets a little old for Lions and Cowboys fans that attend games. Obviously you gotta pick between the game and spending the day with family and cooking.
I doubt the NFL would do it because they want flexibility in the prime time window, but Saints/Falcons was fun and doing it every year would be cool IMO. Go to the game home years, and watch from the recliner on road years while the wife (no pics) decorates the tree.

Nah. I prefer to be stress free on holidays. Plus I won't get fussed at for wanting to watch the game instead of hanging out with family.

Nah. I'm good. I don't even like monday games.

The Falcons games on Thanksgiving were nice, but only because we were winning. I don't think I'd like to see a loss on Thanksgiving.

I enjoyed beating the Falcons on thanksgiving in 18/19

The egg bowl and saints-Falcons in same time slot sucked the last 2 thanksgivings. I'm thankful that I can help my wife put the Christmas tree this year without being pissed off at a bunch of players that I hate to admit hold a lot of my emotions.

I feel sorry for the Lions. Thanksgiving is a time for family, good food, & watching the Lions lose.

used to always be the bears or the lions playing the packers and the other game was cowboys playing the eagles or redskins
those were good division rival games but for the reasons the OP stated the teams got pissy about it

You mean the Packers or Bears playing the Lions. The Lions have been in it almost every year since 1936 (minus 4 years during ww2 and a couple of other odd years).
In recent years they have made one of the match up afc vs. Lions or Cowboys (usually the Lions) for network reasons. I feel it's made whatever game has the afc even worse than normal.
Since they added the 3rd game, that's usually the only one worth a damn, and this year would have been a really good one. A shame it got moved.

I wouldn’t mind it in the evening like it was a couple of years ago, but I don’t think I’d like it at 11:30. Too much shite to do at that time to even watch it on tv.

That's why the Lions' game is always at 11:30. Dallas snagged up the better 3:30 slot.

it depends on if you are a good team that year
as others have stated I have enjoyed it recently because we were winning
Thanksgiving games give you a full day of press on Friday where as a small market team you dont usually get the same level of coverage so it is nice in that sense
however if you lose then you get that extended window of not having a game and only being left with that sour taste in your mouth
its a pick your poison game

I prefer not having my favorite teams playing on holidays. I feel it takes over the conversation and attention of people attending. Plus wherever we are will put the game on forcing me to either not watch or watch with people who have no idea what's going on (or claim to be protesting) and want to have an opinion/question during every play

It was pretty cool. Adds another exciting element to an already awesome day of pigging out, being lazy, spending time with family. I'd like it to be a tradition.

Nope prefer having them at noon on Sundays.
Perfect time where you don't have to wait long.

This. If I had it my way we’d play at 12:00 every Sunday.

Definitely not. Leave that for the Lions and Cowboys. Once or twice a decade would be okay.
I am waiting to see if I get tickets to this year's game on Christmas day. We normally have a big blow out Christmas, but I would be just fine this year social distancing myself in the Superdome.

There’s just something about day games that make happy in general.
I wish it was like the old days where night games were rare and special. Don’t even get me started on east coat games starting at 3:00.
Idk, I get that the Saints play in a dome with no windows so it doesn’t matter, but just from an aesthetic stand point, sports just feels and better in the day.
