Would there be a meltdown if we went OL at 28?

I’m in the minority I’m sure but I wouldn’t be opposed if it’s Landon Dickerson. I hated him in college but whoever drafts him will get a top 15 player probably early in the 2nd round. If he doesn’t tear his ACL this year he’s the 2nd OL off the board after Sewell this year. He could be almost as good as Quentin Nelson has been for the Colts at LG and we could then do our best to trade Peat. Not saying I want this to happen or think it will but I wouldn’t be mad.

I'd be livid if we took a 3rd straight C in the 1st rd.

I’ve made it clear in plenty threads you need to go either O or D line within first 2 rounds every draft. I’d be fine with first pick as an Oline

Eta: Like other guy above said though, not a C this time

I think the smartest play is to either
a) trade back 5-10 spots to a team that covers the 5th year option of a 1st round pick and pick up an extra 2nd or
b) take the BPA at 28 then use a combo of 2022 picks and one of our 3rd this year to get back into the mid 2nd
There’s a lot of good value in this draft in the 30-60 range. That being said they will trade next year’s 1 along with 28 and 104 to move up 15 spots.

I would be fine with Landon Dickerson.

Would rather grab a world class guard coming off of a torn ACL over a CB with two back surgeries.

I'd be on board with an OL pick in the 1st round. I don't see it this year but thats the type of pick that's hard to get mad about. For me at least.

Agreed. A dominant OL or DL can hide deficiencies everywhere else and make average players look good. I’d give one of our 3rd just for someone to take Peat’s contract off our hands.

CB, LB, WR, DE, & OT are the 1st round positions imo. DE & OT due to planning for the future.

At DT...we really need a run stuffer (to pair with Tuttle) more than we need Onyemata's backup. Run stuffing ST's can be had later...Rounds 2-5.

I guess it's possible, but I'd rather not go OG in the 1st round. Obviously, I'd rather not go QB in the 1st either.

Erik McCoy was a second round pick.

...OL is always a good pick. Would ensure our line stays strong even with injury, and gives us flexibility for the next few years.

Would not melt.

Barmore has bust all over him to me. Only plays when he feels like it and he’s not really a good as other Bama DL before him. I think Shelvin is a better player all things considered. This is the worst DT draft in decades.

High enough

In the draft, not high.

Sweet, what about the rest of the team though? A starter at CB, flexibility at DL, LB, or WR would be much nicer.

This where I'm at right before the draft...

High Round Needs (1st-3rd Round)
CB
LB
WR
OT
DE

Medium Round Needs (Mid 2nd-5th Round)
Run Stuffing DT
OG

Has to be BPA
QB
RB
TE
S

No Needs
FB - I doubt we draft 1 with Armah being here on a 1 year deal, but stranger things have happened.

I’d rather get a good player on the o line than a bust CB.

That’s stating the obvious, but Saints are pretty successful at drafting O line. Starting a rookie CB is big yikes. Usually doesn’t happen like Lattimore.

Sherman is coming.

Yeah we will definitely sign a veteran CB. Some decent guys still out there, as Gyno pointed out.

Ok. DL, where our depth got cut in half. WR, cause Trequan probably ain't it. LB, cause Demario can't do it himself. CB, cause the rookie doesn't have to start but we still need a young CB.
Loading up on OL early was a luxury we could afford when the roster was loaded, it's not so loaded anymore.
