Per Schefter

Jameis Winston has been named the Saints' starting quarterback and will make his first start for New Orleans on opening day vs. Green Bay Packers, per sources.
Saints players were spotted yesterday congratulating Jameis Winston, who locked up the job with a strong performance during Monday night’s preseason win over the Jaguars.

Time for Taysom to hit the weight room...I think he is our starting TE against GB

The right call with who we have, but he is not the future.

Still don’t feel like Taysom was given the right play calling to fit his style.

He wasn’t. The competition was stacked against Taysom.
Jameis has played well and will do well under Payton.

Don’t matter Taysom is not a NFL qb and sure as hell aren’t winning a super bowl with him as the starter.

So we should limit the playbook to fit Taysom? Because that’s what we did when he was playing.

Do ya'll want our entire offense identity to change just to fit the skill set of Taysom, as well as losing his ability to play TE/Slot in a year where we need those positions more than ever? Look, I'm excited as anyone else to see what a CSP offense looks like with a mobile QB, but its not like they set records last year, and for those 4 games we did change the entire offense to fit Taysom. Did it work for those 4 games? I guess. We did play a Broncos team who didnt have a QB on the roster.

Is Taysom going to be content playing the role he played when Brees was the starter? His body language was not positive against the Jags when he knew he was losing the starting role.

Stacked as in he completed against a real NFL caliber starting QB

He can’t play that role anymore. He lost 20 lbs of muscle

Taysom is ok to spot start a game here and there but teams will figure him out and it could get ugly, pretty much like the Philly game.
Add to that, he’s already in his 30’s. I rather see what Winston can do for a year so we can make the correct decision to move on with him as our future or find someone else for next year….
Winston has no excuses, top 3 oline and one of the best running backs in the league. Two things he never had in Tampa. Time to sink or swim.
