Jameis Winston’s one-year contract with the Saints carries a base value of $1.1M, per source. He got a $148,000 signing bonus, a base salary of $952,000 and $3.4M is available in incentives. Jameis prioritized the chance to learn and grow as a player.

We got a steal in Jameis. I’d actually won’t mind if Drew Brees does a little load management throughout the season to play Jameis.

We essentially just gave him access to the team facility vending machines.

What a deal!

Wow. Anyone who is upset with this is an absolute moron. I was thinking it was gonna be closer to $7M like Teddy had. That’s an incredible deal for the Saints.

That does show a little bit of maturity for Jameis, right? He could have likely held out longer and got a much bigger contract from another team. Particularly, one that lost a starting QB in training camp or early in the season.

At that figure he is basically doing the equivalent of an internship with the Saints. He comes in to learn and work behind the scenes. At the conclusion of the internship the Saints can decide if they want to hire him or not.

Holy shite.

I throw out everything i've said about the kid.

He's trying to get it together for sure. He took the smarter long term investment over the quick payoff.

Further proof he's serious about wanting to be in New Orleans and learning as much as he can.

i'm hyped not going to lie. this is the most exciting signing of the offsesason. and yes i realize how important sanders was but having a potential future qb in the building is huge

Kid wants to learn from one of the best in the game, can't knock Winston for that. He could have easily demanded more, but I guess he saw what Teddy did and wanted to go the same route.

Actions > Words

And thats one hell of a action.

We need to give the young man a break and get behind him at trying to turn his ship around.

You get him in the building and get to know him to see if he’s viable as a contender to replace drew
Low risk deal
You may get a draft pick out of it

holy shite .. I am pretty stunned no one else gave him a more substantial deal that he could not turn down.

I know the Steelers offered him something but damn
