Why not just tackle their receivers for two plays?

Then force them to throw a Hail Mary on untimed last play of the game?

I know, who cares they would have caught the Hail Mary.

Actually, that makes sense. Holding penalty is only 10 yards. Tackle them at the LoS.

Puts them on the 49 with less than 6 seconds.

This is actually genius.

well a PI would stop the clock, right? Which would have put them in FG range and given them time to get the FG unit out.

But doesn't a penalty stop the clock until refs reset ball?

If if's and but's were candy and nuts, then we'd all have a merry Christmas, Hoss.

Tackle both of them at the LoS is defensive holding.

Clock would of had not enough time for a FG at that point.

Someone did this to us going to halftime during a game last season.

I'm pretty sure it was the Ravens. I don't know why more teams don't do it. It's genius. They don't put time back on the clock for a defensive penalty. At least I don't think so. Hell illegal contact is only 5 yards.

let's be clear though, we were in position to simply end the game exactly how it was played. Williams makes that time 50 times in a row if given the opportunity.

But yea, your scenario makes perfect sense. But hard to think of on the spot, I guess.

I agree.

You can however potentially end the game having every eligible receiver on the ground and Case not knowing what to do until there's like 3 seconds left lol.

Dont tackle but you could hug at the line of scrimiage which would burn probably 5 seconds while the play runs its self out. Especially if QB scrambles and gets sacked.

We had 10 seconds on the goal line earlier this year and someone did this to us, only had time left to kick a field goal.

There is some kind of “egregious foul” rule that negates this

I don’t know the specifics but I remember people talking about this

we'd probably get roasted for dirty play, but who gives a frick.

i still can't believe that play happened. I can't get any work done today.

Still getting roasted right now. Would rather be playing in NFCCG.

There is. They put one in after Chip Kelly did it to the Saints a few years ago to end the 1st half
