Kicking extra point would have made it 10 pt game.

They were hoping for a scenario where they'd be going for the win in that final drive. Highly unlikely but almost happened.

That made no sense. Still trying to figure out the math. What's the advantage of a 9 point game?

The FG made sense, the 2 point conversion was dumb

If you're trying to win the game, it's better to be down 10 than 11. And being down 9 doesn't make it any easier to win than being down 10.

And if you're really trying to win, you don't kick a field goal on FIRST DOWN with TWO MINUTES TO PLAY to get within EIGHT.

Chance of getting a two point conversation is greater than 50%. The logic down 14 is you will get at least 1 of them. If you get the first, you can go for the win at the end. I guess the logic applies to 17 as well.

I'm not saying I completely get it, but the numbers back up the decision.

HOW?! You need a touchdown regardless, plus another score, and you're on the fricking 25 yard line with 2 minutes left. Why not throw to the endzone 3 times then kick?

What? It takes out going to OT.

Sure it does, TD and FG win instead of tie.

Why is no one talking about this? That was absurd.

You need a TD and FG, TD is harder. You're close, there's really no justification for kicking a FG on 1st down, that's horrible.

I mean you still have to score twice. Point is, if you need only one 2 pt conversion, you save it for the end.

BUT THEY DIDN'T NEED A 2 PT CONVERSION.

Three chucks to the endzone uses 15 seconds max. They had 2 entire minutes left.

Kicking a FG on 1st down at the 25 is an absolute waste of the time you spent getting there.

Addressed already but to clarify, you still need two scores. The difficulty is in scoring twice in two minutes.

If you really want to avoid overtime, save the 2 pt attempt until the end when you're down 1.

I just find it hard to justify that early 2 pt try as an attempt to win without overtime, ESPECIALLY considering they followed it up with a FG on FIRST DOWN, which locked them in to absolutely needing a touchdown + 2 just to force OT.

I mean, it's just mind-boggling. We just scored, let's go for 2 so we can win with another TD + FG, followed immediately by we can win this with 2 TDs, let's kick a fricking FG right now on 1st down so we have to score a TD+2 just to tie.

They had all three TO left. They could’ve kicked off, held the Saints and still had 90 seconds left. It really looked like a smart play after the onside kick.

If you don’t agree fine. But it seems line it saved them time.

But I repeat, the original 2 point attempt was dumb.
