where do the saints go with the 1st pick now?
the deniers can no longer deny this is drews last years since he and payton have both said so

so with that in mind where do the saints go with the first pick?

you could give drew the offensive weapons he needs to try and get the SB like a true #2 and #3 WR scoring threat on every play

or..... you could work towards the future in getting serious defensive help and offensive weapons to take the pressure off of the new QB so the 2021 team can help the new QB rather then need a QB who can come in and overcome the teams many holes and weaknesses. this comment will bring out the deniers as some posters here spend all day claiming our players are the best there are yet they constantly lose games for us on the regular

so whats your opinion on the best path? o-line and d-line players to protect the future QB and keep drew injury free in his last year, or get some WR TE for drew to throw to while ignoring our protection issues and lack of d pressure

sell out this year and give up anything you have to to try to get to the SB knowing that ultimately means you will have to accept losing records for years after drew leaves

or start the rebuild efforts now, knowing brees can make up for any shortcomings we still have and still be very competitive this year, but realistically thats not gonna get you to a SB

I think we will be open to a moderate move up if they are enamored with one of the top 4-5 guys and he’s still there.

I also don’t think it’s stupid to kick the tires on Jameis if he could be had for cheap to sit behind Drew for a year. He wouldn’t be a bad option to have for a one year kinda thing while in transition while we look for a future guy if we miss out this year. He has significantly more arm talent than Teddy and is still young. That would also allow us to draft more pressing needs this year to help out with Drew’s last year. Maybe the light comes on with the turnovers.

I take the Super Bowl and I'm happy for another 10 years, just like I have been since 09.

I'd be cool with Jameis. I don't think he's stupid...I think he's immature. A year with CSP & behind Brees could do him wonders.

I don't think Bridgewater was immature, & look what it did for him. Being around those 2 can go a long way for a QB. It's the best position to be in if you're looking to improve your game.

I’ve been on the “we need to draft an OL” team.

But with the likely lack of training camp time. I think we need to get the best defensive player at LBer, S or DL. WRs need time to mesh with the QB and we don’t really have that this year. OL need time working with the other OL and we likely won’t have that either.

Defensive players are more plug and play. I’d say go with Queen, Murray, McKinney or Delpit in the first. Wait until later rounds to take a WR or OL. First four rounds we need to look at defense first.

Get the Super Bowl. It's been 11 years and we have been too close for the last 3 years not to get it. No one knows what the future holds, We might pick up a FA QB next year and still contend for the playoffs every year. The team is still pretty solid without Drew.

I may be in the minority, but I would sell everything to win this season. Maybe even draft back into the first round to get another player. Maybe go LB and WR. Or OL and WR.

LASIK doesn't fix colorblindness dude. He throws it to the wrong colored jersey playing defense.

Hyperbole is unnecessary. Compared to the rest of the league, we have a stacked roster. We can’t draft too many players because there are not enough spots for them. This is not to deny that any team can get better.

If they really want Taysom as the heir apparent then they won’t go QB in the first

The Saints say he is, but I have a hard time believing it.

Personally I’d still like a WR. Sanders is old and we have no one else.

re: where do the saints go with the 1st pick now?
The lack of practice this year will be a challenge.
Teams with new coaches and new QBs are going to suffer early.
And as you said having a top defense will be a great advantage as offenses will not be as well oiled as usual.

Drafting will be changed a bit for if you're expecting the draft pic to play this year you better pic one almost game ready.

This will be a year where teams that adapt and prepare for all the issues at hand will start the season already ahead of the others.

re: where do the saints go with the 1st pick now?
Can pretty much go in ANY direction we want, no wrong answer.
QB: Drew's last year, Taysom appears to be the future but is a question mark for sure
RB: Just about the only position I do not see us going in 1st rd. Though I could see 2nd or 3rd considering Murray getting a little older even though he performed very well last year, and the front office has to wondering if we will pay Kamara a big contract (I think we will pay him)
WR: MT13 and now E.Sanders should be a great combo, haven't had a legit #2WR in 2 years but we are only 1 injury away from being in the same position we have been for those 2 seasons
TE: Cook older with 2 concussions last year
OL: We have our 5 starters plus Easton as primary backup, but Armstead & Peat both are injury prone and Armstead and Warford getting up in age a bit
DE: Could always use more pass rush. Will Davenport & Hendrickson take the next step?
DT: Malcolm Brown was a great addition, glad we brought Onyemata back, Rankins had a great 2019 season before injury but now after suffereing another injury can he return to form?
LB: Arguably the biggest need. We need somebody to pair with D.Davis
CB: Lattimore & Jenkins are a great 1/2, but again only 1 injury away. Gardner-Johnson looks great in slot but not sure about outside
S: Jenkins is a good addition, M.Williams may be on his last season with us because I don't think he needs to get paid much on his next contract

Winston is just a loser , along w/lester Earl . & while we're at it, who was stupid enough to give lester $10,000 to sign with LSU to begin with ?
