I remember watching a game from his soph or junior year and the guy looked like a world beater. Then he just kind of fell off the map. What happened?

You saw a world beater in 38 pass attempts during his soph and junior seasons?

I don't remember the game, but he didn't pass much as I recall. Just seemed like a special athlete, the kind of guy who could change the outcome of a game.

You are mistaking Tommy Stevens for Nick Fitzgerald.

Could be. And I'm off on my timeline, because the game I'm thinking of was a Miss St game, so if it was Stevens I'm thinking of it was his senior year, not soph or junior

Fitzgerald would have been the guy you saw upset LSU in O’s first full season.

I think you are. At no time, did Tommy Stevens look like a world beater.

At no time, did he even look like such a good athlete that people thought he'd play in the NFL at another position.

Fitzgerald on the other hand, often gashed teams...good teams with good athletes. He was a shitty passing QB, but he constantly moved the ball on the ground. THAT guy looked like an NFL caliber athlete.

Stevens was a wasted pick unless they want him to play receiver

?

You mean except for when he had a pro day and ran a 4.5 and impressed with his athleticism, making him a priority UFA or late round pick, which he was? What happened there boss? Wow.

He started the first two games this year for State against UL and USM and went 29-40 with 4 TD’s. He separated his shoulder in the USM game and tried to play through that, a high ankle sprain and later a punctured lung which cratered his season. His touch and accuracy in the first two games were the most impressive I’d ever seen from a State QB over 30 yrs of watching them, with my 85 y/o dad adding that he could be their best QB ever. He truly has some passing skills, or did..high ceiling, low risk for the 7th round imho.

Think he meant watching him in a game
Doesn't matter if he runs a 4.5 if he can't do shite during the game

We want him as a big Colton type of slot / h back type of player. Super athlete.

I think the plan is to make him a mismatch like Taysom, so he will probably line up at TE, WR, and maybe some RPO QB packages.

He was god awful as a QB, but I think they see the elite size and athleticism and want to see if they can mold him into a Taysom player.

Time will tell. He will spend at least a year on the PS.
