You have a brand new coach and Brand New GM. You have a player that has asked to be traded. So you don't have to go out and work the phones behind people's backs. People are calling you and you can field their calls without the media blowing it up.
Remember last year before Kamara was signed we heard stories of him being trade bait.
So Houston gets to sit back and field offers and if nothing is appealing then they can say that we listened but our intention was for Watson to be a Texan, but if the right offer comes in they can move on it and can be relived that Watson has asked to be moved.
Now the GM and the Coach essentially have bought themselves a little more time while they build a roster and get their own players.

Watson doesn't want to play for them. They have the leverage on their end but keeping him around is extremely risky. If Watson wants out truly he needs to be a total cancer about the situation. It forces their hand and probably doesn't give them the picks they want for him. They can say tough shite play for us next year and he can play like shite while being a locker room cancer since he doesn't want to be there. Would they risk that? Don't know. Typically organizations get rid of any player who wants out for those reasons above.

Doesn’t the Texans owe him some money come March 1st? They don’t have the time you think they do.

Gamble on his part though if he Intentionally plays like shite, thought most will know why, that brings perceptions with it. The next will be wondering 1. If he isn't happy, will he do the same to my team. 2. If I believe in 1,then did something happen to him? 3. If 1 applies, then do I want to pay all this money for a locker room cancer?
These guys aren't going to wreck their money to pout

Will be interesting decision for the Saints to make. I would be take a serious look and see what the Texans want.
