Vince McMahon XFL Perfect Timing
Posted by Catchfalaya on 1/26/19 at 6:25 pm753
Really think the XFL is setup for success this time around. I hope the NFL loses its value over the next decade, and players coming out of college opt for XFL. Frick Goodell and the NFL!

I would have agreed with you if the XFL and AAF could have sat down together. Now who knows what the frick is gonna happen?
BTW Aliance kicks off the week after the illegitimate Super Bowl on CBS and CBSN. And the Memphis Express has like 10 LSU players on it. So that oughta be kinda cool.

Hope they put an expansion team in louisiana

Agree. With Vince McMahon’s business connections if the league gets a sliver of interest more than last time he can get some big backers quick. Injecting billions potentially in year two-three. Social media is around this time, and Roger Dodger has given Vince ammunition to potentially get this rolling.

Saints to the XFL! Will be a keystone team for the new XFL...

Will flop like last time. No one wants to watch watered down talent.

Very True. Just depends if McMahon can get just enough talent and audience initially. With so much Hatred towards the NFL these days you can’t rule out some initial success. Vince will need to somehow get the 8 teams enough funding to offer higher salary contracts than the NFL. If that could happen it’s game on.

Just admit you are a pussy and Goodells bitch.
The old USFL HAD legit talent. If we had them today it would work. Now is different with the AAF also as a developmental league. I at least will be supporting Houston franchise. F bending over for goodell. It’s gonna be rough. If he can pull in NFL talent like the USFL did early on. He might have a punchers chance.

Stop being such a millennial tryhard. You're not edgy or cool. I don't really care about Goodell one way or the other but I don't have a perpetual chip on my shoulder to score e-cred with the 'baws' at TigerDroppings.
These second rate leagues are not going to compete for NFL-starter caliber talent. The USFL lasted a whopping three years and that was nearly forty years ago when the NFL draft had twelve rounds.

XFL said they would go for the same talent the NFL does.
I'd love to see some competition.
But get this.

Is the XFL trying to compete with the NFL or college football?
The XFL is a spring football league and will begin play after the Super Bowl. We see the XFL as a complement, not a competitor, to the NFL and major college football
quote:
Can XFL players leave and sign with an NFL team?
Yes, players who have an opportunity to play in the NFL will be allowed to pursue such offers once the XFL season is over.

He won't. Right now they're planning on their maximum salary being 300K. That's over 100K less than NFL league minimum. With the AAFL beating them to market by a year, it'll be a miracle if the XFL survives over 2 seasons.

Haha it will fail miserably

I just don’t see how it will survive. The last time he tried it was a complete disaster.

Not only that, it would wreck their scheduling. Right now everything is in balance in the conferences and divisions.
It would also wreck their "integrity", or what's left of it. Might even start the fall of the dominos where you get other disgruntled owners like Jerry Jones to flip to a different League.
It would be ownership mutiny. It feels like ownership is divided and the majority group won out when they renewed Rodger Goodell's contract.

You mean like college football?
You're an idiot.
This is the weakest argument anybody can make. They even televise high school games and people watch it. It's all relative. All that matters is that the sport is competitive and has parity. That's why people are saying that Alabama, Golden State Warriors, and the Patriots are killing their sports. It's only made worse by the cheating by both those programs to help them get in that position.
I have absolutely no problem watching an alternative professional football league. The arena league was awesome with the New Orleans VooDoo. Those games were way more fun than NFL games.
The biggest hurdles alternative leaves have is television accessibility and footprint. You have to have a lot of teams to get a lot of different regions involved. Right now, the AAF only has 8 teams and there's some holes on the map. I think if either the XFL or the AAF is successful I could see both leagues merging the way the NFL and the AFL did.
So who do we root for? I'm going with San Antonio in the AAF and Houston in the XFL.

I think the last time they tried it, the NFL was still a full contact sport and the games weren't obviously rigged. There were a few rules though that I do feel are necessary to preserve the same players we want to see for years. Like in the XFL, the fair catch or halo rule did not protect the returner like the NFL.
All in all, I would not mind seeing less flags due to less rules like some of the targeting stipulations that surround making head contact. Intentional and incidental are 2 different things.
re: Vince McMahon XFL Perfect TimingPosted by Brazos on 1/27/19 at 7:31 am to LuzianaFootball
Talent will be the issue because they will continue to get 2nd rate players at best.

Vince is no dumba$$. Let’s not forget his wife is Donald Trumps SBA Director. Perfect storm could prop up the XFL, and Congress May look into stripping the NFL of its antitrust after the Saints debacle. You never know.. Merge the XFL and AAF boom 16 teams. Switch the season to start in september, and go head to head with NFL. Money kicks in and they can start paying higher salary contracts. NFL starts to tank and breaks up.
