Vikings or Seahawks - who are you rooting for tonight?
My brain says the Vikings but my heart says Seahawks.

There are Pro’s to both

Seahawks win : Saints would be current #1 seed in the NFC. Vikings loss could open them up to letting a lesser team in the playoffs like the Bears or Rams. I would rather play the Seahawks again than the Vikings.

Vikings win: Saints win next week would put one above everyone else, Would put the Rams on life support (I still hate how they thought the deserved to be in the Super Bowl), San Francisco would still lead their division and would not come to town desperate.

Our priority is now the number 1 seed. We need to pull for whatever Helps us accomplish that, therefore go hawks.

Yeah I was debating this in my mind after seeing GMoney's thread but I think Minnesota winning is the safer option.

Let's assume beat SF Sunday, then a Minnesota win tonight puts us at least 1.5 games ahead of everyone but GB (I think), but we'd also have a stronger SOV than GB and Minnesota. I'd rather that extra insurance than having to hope Seattle drop another game to be truly safe, even though we'd hold the one seed by 0.5 games. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Regardless, we just gotta keep pulling off wins. We'll be the number seed either way if we win Sunday. I like our chances.

Saints go 4-0 to end the year and we are the #1 seed.

Would be nice to rest players in Week 17 though

This is why Minny winning tonight helps us more in the long run. The extra insurance gained from that means winning out through week 16 guarantees us the 1 seed, right??

Root for Minny...doesn't matter who wins the West if we handle our business.

You sure about that. Niners are 10-2 with the better conference record, right?

Head-to-head is the first tie-breaker

Seattle would be in control of that division because of head to head. Then we beat them head to head hence us moving into the #1 spot tonight if Seattle wins.

Why would anyone care about this? Being the 1 seed at end of season is what matters. I want the competition for that spot to lose as much as possible. Pulling for Vikings all the way tonight.

Saints and Niners haven’t played yet. Assuming we win Sunday then we’re in the #1 spot.

Agreed. But, I don't think you could go wrong here. If Saints win out, what happens tonight has no affect. If Saints drop 1 game...

Seattle winning gives Minny their 4th loss and basically takes them out of the running for a top 2 seed. Plus, it makes Sea the West leader so our head-to-head will give us a leg up on them.

Minn winning takes Seattle out of the competition against us, unless Saints drop 2. But, now SF & GB have a leg up on HFA since 1 of their loses was to the AFC.

IMO, Seattle winning is a bigger + to the Saints because I believe after tonight, GB & Minn will go either 4-0 or 3-1 (depending on result of their week 16 game). The Saints should want Minny to lose here, then beat GB giving them both 4 losses. This will give the Saints a little flexibility for HFA, at the very least a 1st round bye at a minimum.

OK good I thought it was confusing scenario.

Agreed. I think it does more for us in the long run if MIN wins tonight then we handle our business against the 49ers. That gives us the most breathing room for a 1 seed.

eta aware we'd be in first place NOW with a Seattle win but theres a whole month left of the regular season still. We could use the breathing room with a Seattle loss.

Want the seahawks to lose.

We beat the niners.

Niners beat the hawks.

We get the #1 seed.

I want a buffer. We tend to frick up sometimes.

re: Vikings or Seahawks - who are you rooting for tonight?
This is a tough one.

- Vikings (8-3) have Lions, Chargers, Green Bay and Bears.
- Seahawks (9-2) have Rams, Panthers, Cardinals and 49ers.
- Packers (9-3) have Redskins, Bears, Vikings and Lions.
- 49ers (10-2) have Saints, falcons, Rams and Seahawks.

Packers and Vikings play each other, so one of them is guaranteed another loss.
Seahawks and 49ers play each other, so one of them is guaranteed another loss.

Packers probably beat the Vikings in week 16.
49ers at Seahawks is a toss-up IMO.

I think you have to cheer for the Vikings based on the math. Everyone at 9-3 and another loss for at least two of those teams.

This is all assuming we win out and those teams don’t lose those other games as well.
