Updated Roster & Cap Space after Restructuring Lattimore's Contract
90 players is the off-season roster max. We currently have 85 total players under contract for 2021.

I'm not sure if we re-signed udfa Safety Eric Burrell or not, so I didn't include him on the roster.

-Converted $9.254 million of Marshon Lattimore's 2021 salary into bonus clearing $7.4M of cap space
-DE Payton Turner has a 2021 cap of 2.277 mil LINK

re: Updated Roster & Cap Space after Restructuring Lattimore's Contract
Is DT that much of a need since Payton Turner played some DT in college? I can see Jordan, Turner, Onyemata and Davenport quite often.

Turner can help at DT with pass rush, but he won't be used to stop the run at DT. He's not heavy enough.

We need 2 run stuffers, & we only have 1 guy right now. We need someone to rotate with Shy Tuttle.

I know Onyemata can stop the run, but he's too good of a pass rusher just to be considered a run stuffer.

Was Brees dead cap space really worth it looking back??
Guess $10-11 million year really is chump change.

I feel like Rauch fills that spot huh? Glasgow looked okay in spot duty last year too

Marcus Williams will be the highest paid active roster player the 2021 season. Crazy to believe.

Ram's hit is still $1M higher, but he will be up there unless they are able to get an extension done.

Oh I missed that with him buried at the bottom of the OT’s. Well I guess I still say highest paid on defense, but that doesnt sound as fun.

re: Updated Roster & Cap Space after Restructuring Lattimore's Contract
I just saw this from 8 days ago (June 2nd)...

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports "all signs point" to the NFL keeping in place the shorter injured reserve and 16-man practice squads from last season again for 2021.

Prior to 2020, teams were only allowed to designate two players to return from injured reserve, and those players had to spend a minimum of eight weeks on the I.R. list. With COVID last season, the NFL shortened I.R. to a minimum of three weeks and didn't have a cap on the number of players a team could activate throughout the year. It made perfect sense and worked so well that it will likely become the new normal. Practice squad rosters were also increased to 16 from 10 the year before. That will also stay in place.

Great Post. I personally think a third RB is a need. At some point Murray is going to no longer be effective and I’d like to see some fresh legs in the Saints RB room. Not sure there is anyone I think the Saints should sign but was hoping to see a late round draft pick used on a RB. Hopefully the UDFA can surprise.

Would be great if these rules do become the norm. The next big step will be to increase the game day rosters and roster sizes; especially as they try to add more games. Would also like to see the 2 bye weeks again.
