I really hope we can do a deal to bring him back but some team is going to give him starting DE money. If we could get him fit around $6 million per year I’d take that deal in a second.

He’s looking at close to 10 mil. That’s a tough squeeze

I’ve posted this earlier and defending him all night to the Davenport lovers!

I agree. If he keeps this up they will have a big decision on their hands. I’d do what it took to make a deal he’s the type of player every defense needs. He’s not the most talented or technical guy on the field but he goes all out 110% every single snap and never gives up. We need 3 starting DE with Davenport always hurt and Jordan starting to get up there in age.

Davenport is not only the better player now but he also has a MUCH higher ceiling. I love T-rex but he's not a davenport level talent. He is a formidable pass rusher, however. I'd like to see him extended but I think he'll be a little too pricey.

You realize Davenport is also pretty damn good, right?

Both can be good players. Trey is better at pass rushing (though Davenport is also pretty dang good at it), but Davenport is much better against the run.

Fox 8 just said Henrickson has been the most consistent player on defense this year. And I agree!

I've never seen a player get off the ball as quick as Davenport. At least 3 plays a game I sigh, almost sure it's a free play because he's early, but nope! He's just that quick.

Cam is gone. Hendrickson and Davenport will be the started long term. We're set for 5 year at DE

I haven't seen any evidence of this yet.

You can't let Cam Jordan walk he's durable versus Davenport who's always injury prone..

You need pass rushers in this league to compete. You can’t let a guy you developed get a way. Loomis will need to work his magic, because you can’t let him walk.

Why do you have to pick one ? Both excelling is great for the saints.

That being said, Davenport is better, he’s developing into the guy QBs legitimately hate having to deal with every week

Both players are very good. Hendrickson is more of a pass rushing specialist, while Davenport is better against the run. They have been putting them both in the game at the same time by moving Davenport inside. That’s a tough spot for opposing Qb’s when Hendrickson and Jordan rushing the edges and Davenport and onyemata collapsing the pocket. Our interior line depth is great, we just need to keep or edge rushers healthy.

This is a great point. Saints got pressure with four rushers much of last night, helping the guys in coverage. That package has generated a lot of pressure since Davenport returned.

The Saints 4-man pass rush terrorized Tom Brady, with 3 sacks and 13 pressures on 26 dropbacks (50.0% pressure rate).

David Onyemata
7 pressures on 29 pass rushes (24.1%)

Trey Hendrickson
7 pressures, 2 sacks on 25 pass rushes (28.0%)

Brady struggled with interior pressure from Onyemata, completing just 1 of 6 passes for 10 yards (1 sack).

Brady completed 7 of his 9 passes for 85 yards when facing pressure from defenders other than Onyemata.

Onyemata was really the straw that stirred the drink last night
