Payton on losing Sproles " I think you can expect (Travaris) Cadet to take on a little more of that role" #saints

I know some people didn't think he would be a replacement for Sproles, but it looks like Sean disagrees.

Patty and Lester are knee deep in debate over whether Cadet can play like Sproles. If Lester sees this and Pat survives that fall this one could be one for the ages.

I just don't see it. If he does, I'll concede that I was wrong.

So Lester thinks he will and Patty thinks he wont?

I don't see it much either aside from the fact that he could line up in the slot like Sproles did. He certainly won't be near as effective imo.

Yes Meat.

That's really their only similarities, besides being able to return kicks, but Cadet isn't really an electric returner.

What I've said is I think Payton is looking to trim down the running backs involvement in the passing game and fill Sproles role with a WR, like a Brandin Cooks.

ive been saying i think Cadet has been kept around for that role. And he has shown great flashes in the preseason, esp 2012.

I came across wrong, I was just confused. Patty was jumping out of windows and you said what you did so I was lost. No harm, No foul.

I agree with this but I think Sproles roll will be split between Cadet and Cooks when we do draft him.

Flashes huh? He looked sudden?

If he actually pulls it off, and can do what Sproles did, I will make a thread saying that I was wrong and you were right.

Cadet isn't as explosive as Sproles but he's better than sending Ingram out in the slot

Cadet isn't near as talented as the last two players to play that role, and I mean he's basically equivalent to a HS player (intended hyperbole) compared to Bush and Sproles in the skill and talent combination area.

That said, he may be adequate depending on the teams philosophical shift. In the end, if the Saints want to keep that aspect in their game plan, they need to bring in someone (likely in the draft) to take on that role.

yea. Flashes. He played like 25 snaps total last year on offense. It's all we have. Needless to say, he's been on the team since.

Suddenness? about as much as Reggie Bush. Similar body type. Cadet's explosion is better than his own top end speed. A lot like Sproles when at his best.

well, i dont state my opinions because i want to argue with you. It's just what I really think. You chose to engage. I'll let it speak for itself

I was just using Payton's coach speech when talking about players. He's used sudden and flashes before. Some of us found it funny is all.

And I know you really think that, and I know that I really don't, but I've been wrong before.
