there were rumors of saints possible trying to trade harper to the titans, reuniting him with williams. this is where i got the harper trade idea from. adding a rb like ivory could be tempting to a team like the jets because they just lost landry and have been searching for a legit back for a while now. plus i dont see ivory geeting much pt with the saints. also many "experts" have been talking about the saints trading down in the draft to recover their second round pick(see www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-path-to-the-draft/0ap2000000152445/Draft-war-room-Saints. as far as draft picks. i clearly said if available, and besides ryan swope which someone already pointed out, all those players are projected to be available in the said round. i believe that the saints could trade and land at least 4 of these guys without a problem. some of you get on here just to troll. get a life.

First, what are the salary cap situations for both the Saints and the Jets? What is the cap hit for the Saints if they trade harper? Secondly, what salary would be left for the Jets to take on for Harper?

Then you start looking at possible compensation. Why the Jets would want to get a more expensive SS like Harper when they have Antonio Allen who seems to just be a younger Harper at a cheaper rate?

do you honestly expect a team to give up a pick for a SS that has proved he is a liability in coverage with a heavy contract?

and was chased down by sam bradford :D

There are two people involved in the proposed trade both at positions of need. Laron landry is also a liability in coverage, but had a Pro Bowl season with the Jets. I believe you guys are not understanding me I'm not saying that Harper is worth a third round pick but Harper and ivory could be worth a third round pick to a team needing a strong safety and a running back

Personally, I just don't think ivory is even worth that much. he's injury prone and can't really catch or block too well. I think he could pull a 5th though. Add in Harper, I don't think jets would even be willing to make it a 3rd, it's just not worth it.

seems like you're sincerely trying analman but what part of the Harper contract don't you get? He is the 6th highest cap hit of any safety in the NFL this year. It's no better next year either. He's not a bum but he is overpaid by several million bucks. For a team to take Harper the Saints would have to give a draft pick or something of value.

As I typed that the solution came. Give the Jets Ivory and a 4th rd draft pick and they might consider taking Harper! Now we're getting away from Madden and closer to reality.

If traded there would only be a cap hit of 1.8 mil. Trade wouldn't happen unless harper would agree to take a pay cut. All I'm saying is that he and. Ivory fit the jets needs. That's why the thread says possibility. Please read carefully before you reply.

I gave you the links. You seem eager. Put a little effort into it. Don't come in rattling off stuff that you admittedly do not understand and then demand we have to hold your hand through it.

I'll give you a couple of clues- $16mil guaranteed and look up accelerated bonuses

Exactly. The Jets have Antonio Allen who is a in-the-box type safety just like Harper except he's cheaper since Allen was drafted in the 7th round due to concerns over his injuries and his range.

It's just not feasible; especially if the Jets think they can wait out the Saints on Ivory. The Saints will need the cap space eventually.
