Yay or Nay

27: R1P27
LB TREMAINE EDMUNDS
VA Tech. (Elite linebacker in the draft)

91: R3P27
WR JAMES WASHINGTON
OK State (Deep threat with amazing hands and athletic ability)

129: R4P27
DT TRENTON THOMPSON
GEORGIA (Beast and anchor of Georgia D Line 6’4 295. Would help out Cam and Rankins)

149: R5P10
LB MARQUIS HAYNES
OLE MISS (Sleeper pass rusher, broke Greg Hardy sack records and showed consistent beastly play in the SEC. also apparently tearing it up at Senior Bowl practice “unblockable”)

166: R5P27
QB RILEY FERGUSON
MEMPHIS (QB with great tools, fiery attitude , and seems coachable .)

Outside of Edmunds and Washington (Whom I want no part of), I have no clue who any of those other guys are.

1. DT/DE
3. Linebacker

Rest of them best available player

Get WR/TE through free agency.

I dont think going for Mayfield with the first pick would be the worst thing in the world. Just depends on if he drops and how far.

Would JIMP, but Edmunds is likely gone well before Pick 27.

WR James Washington is playing himself into Round 2 this week in Mobile.

I like the Georgia DT Thompson for run stuff (great vs run per PFF) and Marquis Haynes (1-trick pass rusher who is flashing in Mobile) to spell Kikaha.

Ferguson seems to have legit upside but he has a long delivery from what I saw of Memphis this year. Memphis has a lot of system QBs that overshadow physical ability.

Yea that is not how the draft works. You don't just prioritize positions and select players from those positions.

You should let some of the other GMs in the NFL know that. Specifically the the three who reached for WRs in the top 10 despite them not being top 10 picks.

Neither Edmunds nor Washington will be there at those picks. Would love Edmunds but it ain't happening.

We need a rangy, athletic LB or a pass rusher at 27. If not available then go BPA. This team is too close to reach. If we have a repeat of the 2016 draft I would take that right now.

Could live with some of these scenarios for our first two picks:

R1 P27 - Rashaan Evans, LB Alabama
R3 P27 - Troy Fumagali, TE Wisconsin

R1 P27 - Sam Hubbard, DE Ohio State
R3 P27 - Jerome Baker, LB Ohio State

R1 P27 - Justin Reid, S Stanford
R3 P27 - Dallas Goedert, TE South Dakota State

How did that work for them? None of them contributed much and every single one of them could have used an elite cornerback.

You circle a single position and you pigeonhole yourself into missing out on talent.

Would love the first one. I think Evans is a stud who would fill a need immediately.

I think I made it pretty clear in my comment that it didnt work out well for him. Lets not pretend reaching isn't a part of the draft was my point. There's times where the difference in value between two players isnt that large and you can choose 1 position over another despite the other player having what is considered more value. There's also times when you'll waste picks doing that like with the 3 WR picks. (Maybe not Corey Davis, still has potential to develop I think)

I think you'd be disappointed it that.

Hubbard is a contain DE. Very good against the run, but I though y'all wanted an elite pass rusher?

And Baker is elite athletically, but got exposed in coverage. That's a reach IMO.

I saw footage of a nasty one handed pick by Baker...his coverage and ball skills looked good to me.. the only concern is his size...he looks small

He has lots of flashes of great plays, but he got burnt. A lot. In coverage.

It was against college teams that run lots of RPOs, but watch the Oklahoma film from this year. It's not good.

I just want you to draft these players with a warning label

I follow the Saints a lot more now since Bell and Lattimore were drafted there (and Teddy is there).

I know Malcolm didn't work out.

The run D is a bigger concern, so I think Hubbard and Baker fit.

Cam Jordan needs someone to spell his position. I think you can get a one-trick pass rusher later in the draft. The Saints lack athleticism in LB, so Baker would be an upgrade over some of the journeymen that log minutes for us.

I think Baker fits better in the NFL than in college.

And Hubbard's ability to set the edge against a run is really, really good. And he's very athletic.
