The Vikings/Eagles defenses were mirages

....it reminds me of when we thought we had a great defense, and Wade Wilson and Anthony Carter proceed to speak the truth. The Saints were ranked 4th in total defense. We were routed 44-10 in 1988.

The vikings and eagles both were in awful divisions. The packers lost AR. The east should have been referred to the least. Brady was throwing balls up and there was a patriot always on the receiving end. Eff, I kept wondering where were the eagles defenders? The falcons and other teams checked Foles easily.

I feel confident the saints can contend next year. With a few lucky breaks and good health, they should easily challenge. I worry more about the Falcons then I do the eagles, rams and vikings.

Like the Vikings, the Eagles D is built around getting pressure with the front four. Unlike the Vikings the Eagles secondary/LBs aren't nearly as good as a whole, though the Eagles line is likely better at getting pressure.

The Eagles were able to expose the Atl and Minny Olines, but couldn't really get to Brady until the end.

They rattled the frick out of Keenum and their Oline was able to hold up against the Vikes Dline.

I have a feeling we would have fared much better against the Eagles than we did against the Vikes, but the Eagles would have likely scored more on us (discounting the last second miracle score) but I feel we could have dropped at least 30 something on them.

The Eagles front 4 made Brady uncomfortable from the very 1st snap. They were in his grill constantly. Their secondary just let the receivers run wide open all night.

That front 4 was one of the fastest units I've ever seen, those guys got into the backfield so quickly.

Yeah they were getting to him here and there early but not really hitting him or affecting his throws most plays.

Near the end of the game is when they really started getting on him and keeping the Pats from coming back.

Part of that may have been how well NE was running the ball though, keeping them honest enough throughout most of the game.

Saints play anywhere near as well in the first half as they did in the 2nd half they win comfortably
