Mingo is definitely fit to be a 3 down OLB, ever heard of containment?

He's a Demarcus Ware lite edition.

Mingo is EXACTLY the type of player the Saints need on defense.

I will fap upon hearing the selection.

Mingo has bust written all over him IMO.

He's a player that needs to be coached up, bulked up and put in the right system. Rob Ryan: DeMarcWare, Kamerion Wimbley, Derrick Burgeous

Lol, if by Demarcus Ware-lite you mean not being a tenth as dominant as Ware was at the college level.

I keep asking this of all the Mingo fans, especially since a number of you are also LSU fans, please name me a game when Mingo dominanted or really changed the outcome?

I'll maybe give you Oregon and probably Tennessee his RSFR year. Outside of that he was a nice player, far from a guy we need to be taking in the top 15 though.

Besides Jones, who of any of these top pass rushers did?

Sorry, but this response on Mingo really aggravates me.

I think they take any of the big 4 if available- Jones, Jordan, Mingo, & Ansah

The Lotulelei heart hubbub is prolly done and not available. Another no brainer if he was. His Pro Day is today for those keeping track.

it's pretty well noted that Mingo was very often really not used properly to his strengths. Not a total excuse but Mingo did a lot of different things on the field... batted passes down, run containments, put a lot of pressure and forced many early throws on the field, has the athleticism to make up and get places quick.

Troy University(Sunbelt) vs. LSU(SEC) Not apples to apples but you are correct.

Stop using what Mingo did in college to say the kid isn't a player. He was playing in a 4-3 with a hand in the dirt. People saw flashes of brilliance from the kid and you can tell that his game translates to a 3-4 OLB better than a lot of the 1st round guys. Led the SEC for 2 seasons in QB hurries. Was double teamed a lot during passing situations. Batted balls down, altered a lot of throws. While playing out of position.

He was made for a 3-4 OLB.

Nor should we pass on Mingo. He will be moved to 3-4 OLB and be a pass rush specialist, which you may not have noticed, is something we need. If Ryan can make him anything near the cowboys backers DO WANT

But Mingo and Ansah are very inexperienced as stand up players, much like Tez and Junior. I am not sure why we would pick a player in the first round that is on the same level as our projected starters at the position. In fact if Tez and Junior are our starters, OLBer in the first is not needed. Depth and raw players are something we can find in the middle rounds.

first half of the Clemson game (before injured) he looked like what a immediate impact pass rusher is. He was kicking arse all over.

Name one position where we drafting a starter in round 1? OT is doubtful with top 3 likely gone.

I'll give him this, but he was also going against one of our scrub backup OTs.

you have not talked about the sack stats above. Also ware racked up so many tackles cause he was used as an OLB more and was not taken off the field like LSU players in their rotations.
