Each year since day one, Drew Brees meets with local businesses to discuss the needs in our community.

They zero in on something, raise the money, and then get the project completed.

Brees was asked why they do it and he answered that someone has to do the work.

Each and every year this humble man goes about the business of helping our needy.

Most of the time his charitable work goes unnoticed.

Sure he recently donated $5 million and it got some good press, but the measure of this man has been to roll up his sleaves and make our city a better place for everyone.

Drew Brees is more than a football player. He is a true philanthropist that loves helping people.

There are many ways to fight injustice in our society.

Drew Brees goes about the duty of helping his fellow man in the quiet of the night and seeks nothing more than to fulfill this mandated calling from the higher power.

Thank you for your service and good works.

You opened my eyes to the joy of helping others.

New Orleans is forever grateful and you will always be one of our own.

Other Saints players will come and go, but I will always remember the man, the human being, the wonderful soul, the kind heart, and the uniquely inspirational person that helped heal and rebuild our great city.

New Orleans doesn't deserve Drew Brees. All that he has done for this city and we're going to let a vocal minority tarnish his reputation and legacy. NOLA is lost

I usually never hurt for athletes or celebrities but this one was really personal. frick the world we live in when Drew’s own teammates turn on him the second it’s convenient. Nobody gives a shite about actually facilitating real change, there’s no hope for the world and we don’t deserve decent people like Drew Brees

He gone.

Drew will do what is in the best interest for the team.

He will say he doesn't want to be a distraction to the team.

He will stand by his comments.

If the team wants him to leave, he will depart gracefully and wish them luck on a Superbowl run.

He will take the moral high ground and not try to throw anyone under the bus.

For all of Brees' NFL playing career, he has been a beacon of light and symbol of heartfelt charity toward his fellow man.

I saw very little of this from his teammates and they should feel very real shame.

Brees is a forgiving person and everyone should redirect their money and charity where it can do the most good.

You don't malign a person and their career that have been so generous.

When you impact a good person's future earnings in your community, they will have less money to give to your community.

Can we not see how counterintuitive it is to attack the actual people that have put their money where their mouth is.
