Two first rounds for Davenport and a first round for a backup center... Maybe ruiz can cover? Payton might be showing off his genius again and gonna move ruiz to Peats spot...Doubt he lasts a the whole season.

Don't forget, payton traded away one of next years picks to move into the 7th and draft Stevenson who didn't make the roster...

Also, without tampa turning the ball over we lose that game... we only had 270 yards of offense against them.

You know next draft will be the same thing, we'll take somebody from Western Connecticut that just did lights out at the combine

Not ready to give up yet but there are some concerns for sure. Missing Thomas shows how bad the WR room is right now. It sucks he got hurt on basically friendly fire.
You knew the Raiders would be jacked in that stadium and it would have been worse had fans been able to attend.

The division will come down to Tampa and Saints - and it's good Saints won round 1.

Two games and our 2020 picks are already busts?

I'm not ready to give up on the season but damn... A nice rookie receiver, linebacker or safety would've been nice.

Davenport was supposed to come in and help us win a super bowl immediately so they traded 2 first round picks...dude hasn't played a complete season yet.

We had a great draft 2016 and 17, but since then it hasn’t been as good. It’s early but right now we have several head scratchers.
It seems sometimes that we are trying too hard to find that sleeper when picking the obvious is really the best play.

People can post all the stats they want, but this pick is becoming a bust with each passing week. He might be a great athlete, but he's not durable.

Eh...he's either our future starting guard or center. I'm not mad about that. And being how both Eason and Peat got dinged up last night, it's good insurance.

No one cares about 6th and 7th round picks

He's on the Practice Squad...

I mean, there was no need to draft safety this year. They got a pass catcher and they drafted a first round talent linebacker.

The glaring issue is receiver though.

That's not really true. He was always projected as a raw product who would need time to develop. Thing is that should have come in year 2 and it hasn't.

I don’t know if you can criticize the draft picks the last few years. We’ve had more hits than misses. Lattimore and Kamara are ROY pro bowlers, MT13 is a stud, 3 of 5 OL are draft picks and great players, Rankins & Anzalone have injury issues, but they are good when healthy. Davenport is a really good player, but he is oft hurt. Trautman looked good last night.

Peat sucks. No way around that. Smith is an okay 3/4th WR, but likely time to let him walk at the end of his contract unless it’s team friendly. Williams is boom or bust, but he’s always highly graded.

Too early on this class, especially with the limited camps/practices/preseason games.

Peats utility is in that he can play at tackle. He’s not the best guard, but that versatility is apparently valuable to the Saints.

2020 was always going to be the worst year for rookies with a COVID offseason.

This is basically Year 0 for Ruiz. The jury is not out on him, we haven't even reached jury selection at this point

Which goes against the logic that this was an “all in” year. A last ride with Drew.

I mean, if they thought he could make an impact this year, which Sean implied, then the all in statement remains a valid one.

That’s the big question, were we building for the future or were we trying to win now?

We knew about COVID when we drafted. If Ruiz needed time and reps to help in 2020, we should have known that. But yes, it was said Ruiz would impact 2020. Maybe he will, it’s early.

I think the ankle injury is slowing Ruiz more than the virus

The only people who say "all in" are fans. Coaches draft for the future, not the right now.

Then there’s time for him to impact this year.
