LINK
1. LB Kaden Elliss
The rookie seventh-round pick started in place of Alex Anzalone, and led the defense in total snaps played.
2. C Erik McCoy
McCoy had one major flub this week, launching a shotgun snap before Teddy Bridgewater was ready and leading to a fumble recovery by the defense.
3. RS Deonte Harris
Barring one muffed punt (which he recovered), Harris had another strong preseason game and is consistently gaining yards on special teams.
4. RB Devine Ozigbo
Ozigbo made a clutch touchdown catch late in the game, and ran well on several attempts leading up to it. His earlier fumble can't be overlooked, though.
5. S C.J. Gardner-Johnson
Gardner-Johnson made more plays on special teams than on defense, and whiffed badly on one tackle attempt in the open field.
6. DE Porter Gustin
The linebacker-turned-defensive end had a few good rushes, but couldn't convert them into pressures.
7. WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey
Humphrey had a nice catch late in the game, getting vertical in a hole between the coverage zones. But he also slipped and fell as the first read on a two-point conversion, leading to a sack.
8-tied. OT Derrick Kelly, DT Shy Tuttle, DE Corbin Kaufusi, WR Emmanuel Butler, LS Nick Moore
Each of these rookies suited up for the game, but none of them made enough plays (good or bad) to warrant much notice.
13. TE Alize Mack, S Saquan Hampton, G Ethan Greenidge
All three of these rookies were held out of the game as precaution for various injuries.

I was unaware that was the cause of that sack.

Ellis looks like a lock at this point.
I keep watching C.J. G-J and I’m not sure what I think at this point. He’s not afraid to tackle, but on one play he takes a bad angle and the next he makes a great play.
Gustin looks good for depth purposes. He was the only one on the second team last week getting pressure, although he never really got to the QB.
Hoping Ozigbo has a good week this week. Good potential there.

Sounds like what you’d expect from a rookie.

I like Gustin. Getting into the backfield but then not converting the play feels like what you’d expect out of a young raw rookie. I feel like he will figure out the rest

I actually view this as a good thing... Preseason is somewhat like a dress rehearsal... get these kinda of things out there so you can talk about what happened, learn and move on...

That shite was on Bridgewater. Everyone else moved and he was still standing there motioning with like 1 second on the play clock.
