The draft can't get here soon enough. In the meantime, this is from Kiper's "mailbag" today. He's answering questions from Twitter.

Would the Saints pass on Calvin Ridley for a tight end at No. 27? (via @Saintspat)

They definitely could. This team has been looking for a big-time tight end since it traded away Jimmy Graham in 2015. And the Saints might think tight end is the bigger need because they have some quality wideouts. If I was the general manager there, I'd pick the Alabama receiver Ridley. He's so talented and his tape is so strong that I'm not worried about his combine workout numbers.

In the end, though, I think Ridley will be off the board at pick 27, so Sean Payton & Co. won't have to make that decision. The decision could instead be South Dakota State's Dallas Goedert or South Carolina's Hayden Hurst, who are neck and neck as the top tight ends in this class.

Here are two other questions that might be of interest to Saints fans.

quote:

Who's the most underrated wide receiver in this class? (via @Ryanmac818)

Easy answer for me. It's Memphis' Anthony Miller, one of my favorite prospects in this draft. He's not the biggest guy (5-11), and he's not the fastest, but he's tough. And Miller produces -- he had 96 catches and 18 touchdowns in 2017. Some team is going to get a good receiver on Day 2.

quote:

After Dallas Goedert, who is the highest-ranked prospect from an FCS school? (via @NDSUTitan)

Love this question, and here's a name for everyone to remember: Nathan Shepherd. He's a defensive tackle from Fort Hays State who is from Canada and played at two other schools before finding his way to Kansas. Shepherd is a really good player. He had 12.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks last season. At 6-4, 315 pounds, he's powerful and quick. He's probably going to be drafted in the third round.

The last guy to be drafted out of Fort Hays State? Frankie Neal, a wide receiver who was picked by the Packers in the third round in 1987. He had 36 catches as a rookie, his lone season in the NFL.

forget about all that nonsense. Once Mayfield drops out of the Top 10 go get him. Time to make sure the franchise will stay Super Bowl Contenders for the next 15 yrs

I mean I get he’s not usually correct on who actually goes where, but I think Kiper does a decent job of bringing a huge amount of prospects to the masses who have watch the draft and makes it somewhat entertaining.

That's a fair point. His and McShay's mocks I'll generally ignore............or most mocks for that matter. But his insight is pretty good.

Exactly. People read the mock drafts like they're crystal ball prognostications. In that regard, they're worthless. The value in them is that they bring us names and info about prospects we may not know much about. I don't GAF who Kiper thinks is going to be the 19th pick in the draft. I do value all the info he and other mocks provide about draft prospects.

I think and hope it will be Goedert or Hurst at 27.

I just don’t buy us having TE as the BPA at 27

Not saying it’s not still a need

I’m praying Harold Landry or Da’Ron Payne makes it to 27.

Looking unlikely though.

I"ve seen mocks with him in Round 2 so clearly some people think there's flaws in his game to put him outside the T20.

Yep until then it's just a big circle jerk.

I would love Ridley at 27 but he should be gone.

We would need the top QBs gone plus Jackson and probably Rudolph to be gone for that to happen

People think Payne is some monster bc of the playoffs but he didn't do shite the rest of the year. There's clips around of Ragnow from Arkansas driving him clear across the field over and over.

If this was such a sure thing he wouldn't slip out of the top 10.

Anthony Miller sounds like a Snead. We have a Snead that we don’t feed.
