Josh Katzenstein?Verified account @jkatzenstein No guarantee Saints go edge at No. 42. Payton said they still have handful of players w/ R1 grades on board & their next edge has R2 grade.

I want to get a pass rusher but I don't want them to reach. Get talent.

I feared that. Just as long as it's not a QB. If it's a QB, I'll melt like a mother fricker.

Hopefully it's Cunningham. They're obviously still interested in LB or they wouldn't have considered Foster

If I had to guess players available with possible first round grades:

Lamp
Robinson
Cunningham
Kevin King
Joe Mixon
Dalvin Cook
Malik McDowell

But seriously, we shouldnt over-reach if a Rd1 talent falls to us.

Good

We bitch every year about the lack of talent. We should be adding talent everywhere

The draft is about acquiring talent.

If a guy pans out, in two years no one will give a frick that he wasn't a particular position, because...he's a good player.

Is this really how they rank their players? It's so mind-numbingly dumb that I'm finding it hard to even comprehend that an NFL organization would set up their board this way.

Zay Jones here we come

you find it hard to comprehend how teams rank players based on overall value?

*ETA: never mind frick it. that makes total sense given who you are

This is why Lattimore wasn't a A+ pick. You passed on guys like Derek Barnett when the draft is stacked with CBs. CB depth in this draft >> pass rusher depth. I'll post the list of CBs remaining at 42 when we get there.

The same reason Ramczyk was a good pick is the reason Lattimore wasn't a A+.

Because "value" is bullshite. You don't draft a WR at 42 over a DE just because he's a "great value"

Good gosh.

So...passing on the #1 rated CB and a top 5 player for the #4ish rated DE and a top 20 player would be the right call because CBs are deep and DEs are deep, but CBs are slightly deeper.

Got it.

If you have the chance to acquire elite talent you do. You stick to your board.

Just seems contradictory to what the Saints were trying to do prior to the draft. Seems like they're trying to win before Brees and AD retire. I'm a big proponent of BPA though.
