Saints currently slotted for the 27th pick in the 2018 draft
If we win this weekend, it will move to the 28th pick.

Now that we know our floor for our pick, it highlights what an amazing pick Kamara was. We essentially traded what will be no higher than the 59th pick for the 67th pick (picked last year). So we basically got Kamara a year early and it only cost us 8 slots!

I’m starting to like Vita Vea. The DT from Washington. He might be there. Can never have too many solid defensive lineman. Him next to Rankins would be legit.

Hindsight, but SF probably saved our season and its the most hilarious outcome.

First they jump and take Foster (who is still a very good LBer) and so we end up taking Ramczyk who played every offensive snap for us

Then they give us the 67th pick for our most dynamic offensive weapon since Sproles.

And all we lose is a 59th and a 7th round. Hell, we win it all and we give them essentially the 64th pick

His aggressive approach greatly benefitted us the same way our aggressive reproach has normally benefitted others in prior years.

Pretty awesome to see 4 of our picks in the top 10 for Rookies and to think it could have been more had Anzalone not went down.

The Kamara scenarios are just awesome. Saints had to make the playoffs to make that trade look good and they failed. It looks straight criminal today.

re: Saints currently slotted for the 27th pick in the 2018 draft
So, I apologize for not including the 7th round pick (229). So I went back and looked at the trade value chart and came up with this:

Saints get 3rd round pick (67) - 74.59 points
49ers get 2nd round pick (59) - 90.84 points and 7th round pick (229) 2.04 points.

If Saints win Superbowl and pick 64th (79.69 points), the 49ers basically get 7 points of value from the trade. I am still amazed that we got to keep our 3rd round pick on top of getting Kamara. Great trade.

It all depends on who is there, but I like our interior Dline. Davidson is a stud. Rankins and David O are really good We have hit this year on getting big bodies to sub in.

I would say a speedy/athletic LBer, a WR, a DE, and probably a safety (assuming we let Vaccaro walk) are higher needs than DT. With Armstead always hurt, I would not mind seeing another OT taken as well.

I tried saying as much on draft day, but the doomsayers were swearing we'd be giving up a top 10 pick in round two.

The 7th was less than 10 points of value iirc. It was basically a throwaway pick. Drafting a Colston is SUPER rare.

Not to mention a few people had an inkling about that Kamara kid.

Walter Football Mock for Saints:

1) Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama
3) Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State
4) Jeff Holland, DE/LB, Auburn

a future pick also has decreased value.

so for it to be even that remotely close is such a win for us

Generally, but not always exactly, valued a round down. Most GMs would view it as trading a third for a third.

I trolled Gordy till he blocked me yesterday on twitter about this lol. I saved it on draft day knowing it'd pay dividends in the future. His tweet referring to us trading up was, "the saints just cannot help themselves in the draft." If you read this, frick you Gordy.

re: Saints currently slotted for the 27th pick in the 2018 draft
Hell of a job by the coaching staff of getting out of their own way this offseason.
-not trading our first and shelling out big bucks for Butler, which in turned landed us Lattimore. - Add to the fact that we sat tight at 11 and still landed the #3 player on our draft board. - Ram was a godsend of a player for us. We don't win 11 games without the caliber of play that he gave us. -Marcus Williams starting every game for us at free safety and providing an edge to our back end. - Then getting the most dynamic play maker in the draft with Kamara while essentially swapping a 3rd round pick for a 3rd round pick. Unreal how fortunate we came out with all of those situations. Now going into this offseason we have skipped a rebuilding year. We have the youngest defense in the league and they're playing well. Our offense is young and under contract, with the exception of Brees. And you are back loaded in the draft with multiple 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks. (Depending on how the Adrian Peterson trade plays out)

He's one hell of a player and can rush the passer. I'd have no issue picking him m

A 247 article written right after the draft about the worst pick of every team in last years draft popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday, and this is what it said for us:

"New Orleans Saints - Ryan Ramczyk

The Wisconsin lineman could turn out to be a steady figure on the Saints’ offensive line, but New Orleans had their sights set on another target: Reuben Foster. The 49ers traded ahead of the Saints and they were forced to select an offensive lineman instead of some much-needed defensive help."

Not many were predicting this season after the draft much less after the first two games, cap.

I know we don't draft LSU players but Arden Key just declared. I'd love to see him in black and gold opp side of Jordan.
