I've never been able to predict what the Saints are gonna do in the draft but it's still fun to try.

What are your hopes/expectations for this year's draft ? Do you have a few players on your "wish list" ? Any sleepers out there you have your eyes on ?

I hope we land a solid pass catcher with our late 2nd round whether it be a wr or te. I'd prefer WR bc I think some guys could fall to 62 that would contribute immediately(Parris Campbell, Hakeem Butler, Andy Issabella) while the TEs that fall that far will take a couple years to develop.(recent mock had us taking Jace sternberger) I hope in the later rounds we continue to add depth on the OL.

What sayeth ST?

I expect us to draft a starter or eventual starter with our 2nd round pick. I also expect us to use our late round picks on positions where the player actually has a shot at making the team.

Pretty much the opposite of what happened with Jamerson & Kamrin Moore last year. We also tried to keep Boston Scott on the PS & Philly poached his arse.

I expect better planning. I don't really have a problem with how the FO evaluates talent, b/c they're actually damn good at that. Rick Leonard was a kind of a curveball though.

You probably will once the pre-season rolls around. If that doesn't do it...I'm sure the regular season will.

This is a post-season roster. We'll be back again in 2019...hopefully we don't get the screw job again though. Even CSP admitted that he locked himself in his room for 3 days, watched Netflix, & ate ice cream.

If I had to bet, I'd say the Saints probably pick and versatile offensive lineman. This class is pretty deep at interior offensive line, and we need to see some competition this offseason to take Peat's spot next year.

The TE class is also super deep, and I wouldnt be surprised to see us make a Kamar-esque trade to go get a guy who falls.

Spots I'd be surprised to see drafted in the 2nd are QB, CB, and LB. Those spots are super weak in this years draft, and the Saints are fine there for this season.

until we know that we are done in FA it is really hard to project.

a Jared Cook signing would greatly impact our draft board

I like the WR depth in this draft and would love to claim someone if we filled the TE hole first.

with remaining picks we can add another OL and RB prospect to help put as many pieces around Drew for 2019.

Yeah the wr depth is pretty sick this year and most mocks only have 2 or 3 wrs chosen in the first round. The TE class is deep but I can only think of 3 guys worthy of a 2nd (fant, hockenson, irv Smith) and they'll most likely be long gone by 62.

That's just assuming we're looking at pass catchers for our 2nd round pick . Hell, they may draft s Safety 1st. Ya never know what our FO is gonna do. Lol.

a name to keep an eye on for us in the mid to late round pick range is the RB Bryce Love out of Stanford.

Kid had an insane 2017 and was rumored to be in the running for a 1st round pick before this past season. His OL was makeshift and he tore his ACL in the final game of the season. Saints could potentially PUP stash him and have a steal going forward.

I know we have been snake bitten in the past with college RBs coming off injuries but this one is worth taking a shot on in that 5th or later range if he is still available.

Also I agree. I love the top 3 draft TE's but dont think any make it to us in the 2nd as is.

Yeah bryce love will be a steal for someone. I know it's not an immediate need but I wouldn't mind grabbing jaylon Ferguson from La Tech if he fell that far.

I don't see a problem with drafting an injured player if you can get him 2 or 3 rounds later. Obviously, it depends on the severity of the injury & your entire draft shouldn't be consisted of injured players.

That being said...you can get a steal if you pick & choose wisely with injured guys. Hell, Carl Lawson fell all the way to the 4th round. He was supposed to be a late 1st/mid 2nd guy.

Also, we got Anzalone in the 3rd b/c of injuries. He should've gone 2nd. Kendall Beckwith went last pick of the 3rd round.

I'm really hoping we sign Cook, even if we have to overpay. That frees you up to not have to worry about TE in the draft.

At that point, I think you consider taking a WR in the second (Isabella, Campbell, etc) or load up on the OL. There are a handful of lineman who are projected late who could probably contribute.

My thoughts exactly. Grab the best available wr in 2nd that fits the offense and draft the hell out of some o lineman.

Devin White (if we had the chance)

If you have told me a few years back I’d be ok with passing on a potential top 5 pick at LB when we had Hawthrone and Lofton. I would have laughed in your face, amazingly LB is now the strength of the defense

Im ok with the Ohio Strate WR paris
