Says Mark Brunell, who spent 19 years in the NFL and served as a Saints backup QB in 2008 and '09, "I always get asked: 'Who's the toughest guy you ever played with? Who's the most competitive? Who's the best player? The smartest player? The hardest worker?' And my answer to all those is Drew Brees.

Nothing new here, but it is a good read.

Is brees bigger than the saints? He might be, and that is a testament to his greatness.

he's bigger than the NFL imo. He's going to do great things for years after he retires.

That is not a good read. That is an outstanding read.

During a conference call before the 2006 draft, Reggie Bush's representative told the Saints that the Heisman Trophy-winning running back didn't want to play in New Orleans. Payton leaned toward the phone, screamed "F--- you!" and hung up. Then he drafted Bush No. 2 overall anyway.

We are so blessed to have this coach and this QB on our team. Everyone should enjoy these times while we can.

How awesome would it be for Brees to stay on as an assistant to Sean after he retires?

This x a million. Thinking about it seriously makes me almost tear up. We are so lucky to have these guys.. Not just because they win football games.. But just because they are who they are: genuinely outstanding men. I am proud of my favorite teams coaching staff, their management, their players, and especially their QB. As much of a homer as this makes me sound, I'm so sure that its true.. There is no other environment like ours. There is no other city, no other state who supports their team like we do, who have genuinely learned to love the guys we have and who have a real connection to them through experiences.

I know that it's really unlikely we'll ever have the same type of thing going for us ever again, at least in my lifetime. So I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts as best I can.

Even though I get laughed out of the bar, or off the message boards or out of the office for saying this, I really believe it: years from now, a lot of people are going to reference our offense from these years as the greatest ever. They're gonna open the record books after Brees retires and just say.. Holy shite!

Anyways, this post makes me look like such a kook. Article got me all emotional.
