Jay Bromley is a member of the New Orleans Saints, again.
On Monday, the organization re-signed the defensive tackle to the roster as Taylor Stallworth is dealing with a minor ankle injury, according to a report from The Times Picayune.
Though the injury that Stallworth is recovering from is not considered serious for the time being, the Saints felt obliged to bring in an experienced inside tackler with the team preparing to square off against a run centric Ravens team in Baltimore in Week 7 action this coming Sunday.
The Saints (4-1) are coming off their bye week and are riding a four game win streak following their Week 5 victory over the Washington Redskins, while the Ravens (4-2) defeated Tennessee, 21-0, on Sunday after sacking Marcus Mariota 11 times.
Baltimore averages 99 rushing yards per game and are second in football with eight touchdowns.
Bromley’s departure came in the days following the Saints’ decision to list him as an inactive player for their Week 4 game against the New York Giants combined with the emergence of Taylor Stallworth as a legitimate depth option on the interior of their defensive front, and some concern on the team about the performance of their cornerback rotation when defending against the pass.
Bromley had two stints with the Saints before recently, signing originally with the team back in mid May in an offseason during which time the organization sought to improve their defensive line depth, though he was eventually numbered among their initial roster cuts at the deadline in the beginning of September prior to the regular season.
He was then brought back on Sept. 17 when the Saints were interested in adding some more depth to their defensive line when Tyeler Davison was dealing with a minor injury to his foot.
Then, Bromley was cut again, on Oct. 4 in the transaction that saw the addition of cornerback Demetri Goodson. It was not immediately made known which player the Saints will part with in order to make room on the roster for Bromley.
Bromley finished his four year career with the Giants with a total of 47 tackles while appearing as a rotational defensive end, adding on two sacks and one pass defensed. Bromley never developed into the three technique defensive tackle the Giants hoped when they used an early third round pick on him. The goal was for Bromley to emerge as the starter and a two way defensive tackle who could shoot the gaps to penetrate upfield as a pass rusher while at the same time taking on multiple blockers to help stop the run.
He made a push to start at defensive tackle last offseason, with his best training camp since entering the NFL, but he was ultimately surpassed by rookie defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. The Giants made the right decision to go with Tomlinson, their 2018 second round pick, as he ended up putting together an excellent season for the defense at the three technique defensive tackle position.

It's more of an update on Stallworth's availability for the Ravens.
