re: Real Talk: What do you honestly expect from Jamies Winston this year?
Real talk - I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Truly the Saints are a real who knows team right now.

If I had to guess. Winston will be better than expected but the defense will be worse than it has been the last few years. The team goes 9-7 or 10-6 with Winston probably getting too much blame considering the step back I think the defense takes.

I will say I will be shocked if taysom on starts over Winston as the primary QB.

Honestly I expect to win a super bowl and I expect that from any QB that starts for the saints or the coach is not doing his job. That's what happens with Tom Brady right ? Tom Brady got to the conference finals like 14 times or so and won it all 7 times, any why can't the saints do the saint under whatever QB is starting?

I think he slings The Hell out of it. But still has the knucklehead mistakes but hopefully less. Imma say he goes for 4700 yards, 31 passing TDs, 3 rushing TDs, and closer to 17 INTs with like 2 or 3 late game altering turnovers. So Good not great season overall for him. We go 10-6, make it in as a wildcard. Then he has a couple big games and we lose in the conference championship. I think him and Trequan Smith build a rapport and Smith nearly eclipses 1000 yards. Thomas goes for 1400 yards, kamara for 700

800 yards is roughly 3 games. So, your expectation is he will average 9 INTs a game; THEN get benched?

Meh.

59% completion percentage, 2,500 yards, 16 TD, 14 INT, 4 fumbles lost, benched, somewhere else next year.

People expecting super efficient numbers from Jameis Winston are going to be sorely disappointed. Guy's barely a 60% passer with terrible mid and long range accuracy and the worst decision making in football since his redshirt freshman year at FSU. The predictions in this thread are and homerism / blind fanaticism at its finest.

Let me guess, he will be an all star because he has matured?

The Tampa Jameis is the N.O. Saints Jameis. What makes him so different in a couple of years?

A roller coaster ride probably ending up 7-9 to 10-6. He is what he is until proven otherwise.

I agree with op but would add about a 6 lost fumbles with the 15 interceptions

I think he'll be watching a lot of games from the sidelines.

I honestly expect a lot of mediocrity from Jameis this year.

i expect him to fail, its who he is and hes not gonna be an NFL star QB

not sure if taysom can be one either but i expect taysom to take over about mid season barring injury, then maybe try winston again to finish up the meaningless season

this is going to be ugly and frustrating year but thats what happens during rebuilding years. and when that rebuilding is your QB its always bad for a while

Lasik surgery, better offensive line, and Sean Payton. No 7 step drop back Bruce Arian offense.

But how does that fix his horrible inaccurate throws, his TD to INT ratio, his bad decision making from the pocket, and his immaturity as a QB (not a team leader)?

The only thing you listed that may help is a better O-line. He still is inconsistent from game to game. This will never allow him to win in the playoffs, if we can even get there.

This thread will be fun to bump randomly throughout the season and at the end of the season. But it looks like there are 2 categories of people.

First group who put a lot of value in what Payton will be able to do with Winston's abilities

The 2nd group who put a lot of weight on what Winston did under Koetter (mid-tier offensive guy) and Arians (great offensive mind) and just assume he will continue that trend.

I lean more towards the first group, and think you have to take what Winston did under Arians with a grain of salt because he also has a reputation for QBs struggling at first under his systems. But, also acknowledge that the only proof we have seen of Payton's excellence is his career as a HC with a HoF QB.

maybe a few more INTs and a little lower comp. %, but this is pretty much where I'm at
