I honestly have no f$&king clue what our qb play will be like, and I am excited to find out. I don’t know if I have ever been more hyped to watch preseason football.

4,300 30/12, Payton takes the pressure off him with an improved run game.

I think this is basically what you will see. That is 300 yards a game, 2.25 TDs a game and just over 1 INT a game.

When he was with TB, he had a per game avg of 274 yards, 1.7 TDs, and 1.2 INTs per game. And most of his career was under Dirk Koetter, who from what I remember was a middle of the road OC with Atlanta. So, I can easily see him having a slight bump in stats, even with a running game commitment, as long as he keeps his INTs in order.

Who will start this year after Winston's INTs start catching up to his TDs?

They would be foolish to pull him regardless of what he does. If he is really that bad you ride that to a top pick. Going 6-11 or 7-10 does more harm than good putting in Hill

I hope he does well. This board’s expectations seem way way out there. Y’all gonna lose y’all mind if he sucks I guess.

Think 4K yards is the ceiling as the team will want to keep him on time and in a rhythm, vs having to force the ball in an attempt to make plays.

This is the best backfield and OL he's had, and the D should be middle of the league at worst, so something between a game manager and a gunslinger seems about right.

PS Taysom will see the field in that role more than he has in the past, imo.

So you’re admitting Winston will win the job?

Not pumping sunshine here. He may be a hall of fame practice guy, but I am going to have to see it in a game situation.

Idk but I like the way he carried himself last year. He went Vegan and is in the best shape of his life, humbled himself taking a 1 year for nothing and followed Brees around hopefully soaking up knowledge, didn’t pout when Hill played at all. Winston appeared to be a great teammate and showed signs of maturity that we haven’t seen. The talent is obviously there it’s the things above that has everyone worried and let’s hope he replicates his behavior from last year. Sans an injury if Taysom plays after Winston wins the job we are fricked.

The Saints view this as a chance to get an evaluation of Hill at quarterback now and for the future, with Brees still likely to retire after this season, according to sources. One source with “deep knowledge of Payton's thinking” told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that "Sean just wants to know" whether Hill has what it takes to be the Saints’ next franchise quarterback.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Payton also told Hill when he signed the contract that he’d get the chance to start if Brees got injured.

Did Taysom pass CSP's trial run?

of course...

quote:

New Orleans coach Sean Payton struggled with choosing the Saints' starting quarterback for Sunday's game before ultimately deciding to go with Taysom Hill, but multiple players and people within the organization thought Jameis Winston should have been the starter against the Atlanta Falcons, sources told ESPN.

I’m with you man, there’s a chance (however slim you may think it is) that JW is exactly what this offense needs. If so… watch out
