quote:

6. New Orleans Saints:
The fleur-de-lis is as synonymous with New Orleans as Mardi Gras, beads and the irresponsible drinking that links Mardi Gras and beads. To have it on a helmet gives the Saints one of the two most city-centric helmets in the league.

quote:

1. Dallas Cowboys

Look, nobody's happy about it so we'll cut to the chase: The Cowboys star is the most recognizable logo in all of sports and on a short list with Coca-Cola, Apple, Nike, McDonald's, Starbucks and Disney as one of the most recognizable in America.

Also ahead of the Saints:
5. Steelers
4. Packers
3. Chargers
2. Raiders

Chargers get way to much love for being mediocre...for Christ's sake, it is just teal blue!

I’d replace chargers with chiefs. I think the star is good but I think they’re a bit overboard with the praise. I think the raiders are rightfully top 2.

I’ve also always liked the Rams, especially the more classic colors. I think the fact that Georgia being so similar to GB knocks it down a peg or two for me.

I’d go in no order.
Saints
Chiefs
Steelers
Raiders
Rams

As personal favorites.

If we're ranking on factors other than just looks I can agree with most of those.

The Chargers though, so many teams that should be in front of them, including us.

It's classic and iconic though. Virtually every one they had ranked in the Top 5 is definitely nationally known and probably also known worldwide, at least by big sports fans.
I just can't recall if the Georgia "G" or the Green Bay "G" came first?!

Green Bay came first in 1961, Georgia in 1963.

It's one of the most iconic and duplicated logos in sports. From high schools to colleges like UGA and Grambling using the G, it is one of the best to me.

Yep. Vince Dooley got permission from Vince Lombardi and the Packers to use the G because it's trademarked. They gave them limited use.

I've found conflicting articles, but looks like 1964-1965 timeframe.

A return to this Dolphins logo would take them from bottom 10 to top tier:

The chargers at 3?

It’s a fricking lightning bolt.

Also does it bug anyone that the Colt’s horseshoe makes a U instead of a C?

You could use that stupid-arse “BRANDING!” argument they use for the Cowboys logo to argue that Lonzo is the best player in the NBA.

I say #1. Awesome helmet and logo.

I suspect Raiders would be in most top groups, as in "your personal favorite, and the Raiders".

Re the Cowboys, I prefer the older star to the more recent one.

Saints Fleur de lis, with a gold background, is great.

I used to really like the Oilers logo. We could use a return to that. Maybe the Texans can revert to that.

As much as I hate the team I have to admit the 49ers logo is pretty damn cool looking and iconic.
