Do you contemplate taking a qb at 11 this year if saints have pick of the litter of their choice.

Also, lets assume that the saints front office has EVERY intention to still resign Drew Brees at his market value after the season concludes.

This pick can provide insurance from Drew injury, leaving, superior backup, growth potential/grooming for 3-4 years, maybe a tradable asset like garapollo in a few worst case scenario.

Are you ok on this? Yeah, i know... WE NEED EDGE TALENT but....

I, personally, am not for any QB at 11. I do like Watson a bunch and think he'll be a good pro. But no, not at 11.

Not if he you think he's staying. If it's a legit 50/50 I'd have no problem with it.

This is a valid point. I just assumed Brees would stay 2-3 more years.

If Trubisky or Mahomes are there at 32 I'd get over it if they take 1 of them. If not I like Chad Kelly in the 6th.

No way we can take him at 1.11.
the real question for us and a lot of other teams that might like Deshaun Watson, how far does he fall before someone moves up for him?

if you take Walter's current mock, Deshaun is falling all the way to KC @ 1.27

Say we end up giving NE the 2.10 and 3.12 for Butler, not 1.32....
would you be willing to offer Seattle:
1.32 + 3.39 for 1.26? to move up and grab Deshaun there?

Would you be happy coming out of this offseason/draft with:

Resign: DT Nick Fairley
Sign: G Larry Warford, ILB A.J. Klein, WR Ted Ginn
Sign and trade: CB Malcolm Butler

Draft:
1.11: DE Derek Barnett, TENNESSEE
1.26: QB Deshaun Watson, CLEMSON
.......
6.12: Flyer
7.11: Flyer

No.
Our only chance at Deshaun is him falling to 1.32, IF we keep it.
I'm even starting to think that giving 1.32 for Malcolm Butler might be the smarter play for our needs. I don't think we can be doing any 2 for 1s.

I sure hope they go defense at #11, but #32 and #42 could be QB and TE (Mahomes and Engram). You know Sean Payton can't help himself....Unless they want Chad Kelly in the 6th.

I have been saying for years I hope we draft the QB for the future soon. I am TERRIFIED of returning to what we were pre-Brees so I just really want to know where the future will be.

Add in my affinity for Clemson, and if Watson is available at 11 I will be begging baby Jesus and all the deities known to man for us to take Watson.

My dream is to tank the year after Brees. Dump over priced players. Trade as many high salary players for draft picks as feasible. Get Cutler on a one year contract. Go 1-15 and hope a franchise QB is there in the draft.

Who else could win only one game for the Saints in a year you don't want to win more than one game?

Who else would you rather see get their arse beat at QB for one year?
