I gotta be honest... when I heard about this slogan for the saints this year I thought it was horseshite from a psychological motivational perspective. Us against the world seems to be pretty easy...prove em right? Stupid brah.

Sean's 2007 funeral of the 2006 season + Do your job for the 2012 season didn't work
I thought prove them right is a decent concept. You acknowledge that you are a good team and what the standard is for this season.
My problem isn't with the message just the mindset(or lack thereof) we played with in week 1.

Slogans are irrelevant and doesn’t affect (effect?) your play in the field whatsoever

Just use “impact” I always have trouble with effect/affect

Payton clearly has a blind spot when it comes to motivating his teams right out of the gate. No matter what he’s tried over the years it has mostly failed. It is what it is.

affect (effect?)
Affect is right. Actions affect thing. The results of an action is the effect.
So a slogan may or may not affect something. The effect of the slogan is supposed to be better play.
Does that make sense?
Or,as suggested, maybe use impact instead

Affect (verb). means to impact or change.
Climate change can affect you.
Effect (noun). means the result of change.
She is feeling the effect of climate change.

Take your climate change to the weather or political board.

Im glad someone agrees with me on this. I say we bring back "Do your job". Prove em right!? Our defense is back to being the laughing stock of the NFL, I guess now it's back to prove them wrong. I've always felt that we've played alot better when we've been counted out and doubted
