Predict the melt level of today's pick
1 through 10

1 - We stay at 24 and pick best player available that fills a position of need

5 - We stay at 24 and reach on a player projected middle of 2nd round Like (Cole Kmet) TE from Notre Dame

10 - We trade our entire draft and 2 picks next year to move into the top ten for Jordan Love.

I don’t think we’re going to do what you say at 10, but I’m thinking an 8 or 9 on the melt meter even though we probably stay at 24

The Saints almost never draft who we expect them to, and our fan base gets super attached to certain players and then melts when we don’t take them

Realistically it’s extremely unlikely we take Queen, Murray, Jefferson, etc. we will probably take someone less expected.

re: Predict the melt level of today's pick
There is virtually no pick in this board's history where the melt level was below 5. This board partially melted over Lattimore. A top 5 pick falling to us.

Given the wealth of LSU players that should go in the 1st round, at positions of need, and the likelihood that we don't take one:

9

I just don't understand melting over draft picks when each one is a complete unknown.

We had people who melted when Ram was selected. Granted we have people who melt over every pick regardless.

I also look forward to SFP's once a year visit to the board to tell us how to feel about our 1st round pick.

Because they KNOW. They read a couple of mock drafts.

That's true. And also watched a 2 minute youtube highlight reel.

I wasn’t on this board at that time but that was an absolute steal. Can’t believe people melted over that

We are not trading into the top 10 without losing one of our stars. Forget that

this is true you would think wit the amount of people that cancel their season tickets over Draft Picks and Protests it would be a lot easier for me to upgrade my seats

I predict the melt at level 2.

A really good pick still has the regular posters who enjoy melting.

re: Predict the melt level of today's pick
For some reason I don't think the melt is going to be too bad.

I mean there will always be some melt. You have some people that will bitch no matter what. You have the "Saints hate LSU" crowd that will melt if it's not an LSU player. But overall I'll guess it's going to be around a 3.

ETA: I'm changing to it a 5 or so. I just expect the melt down so a normal melt feels like a 3

re: Predict the melt level of today's pick
Every draft I’ve followed on this board has been a decent meltdown to be honest.

If we pass on someone like Patrick queen for example the melt could easily get to 10 when the tiger rant shows up.

re: Predict the melt level of today's pick
The draft (and its reaction) almost always goes like this:

Pick is made

IMMEDIATE melting commences

Some guys are freaking the frick out, while some guys repeat the old saying, ‘just trust ______’

A few days pass, we get 25 threads a day that are all the same: ‘I can’t believe we reached for ____, he would have been available in the ___ round’. - while others are preaching about ‘just trusting the staff’

Someone comes along and posts some article or link highlighting the strengths/weaknesses of the player, providing a little bit of insight on the pick, which results in a few people pumping the breaks and deciding they should wait it out before evaluating the selection

Camp starts, and every little piece of info gets ripped to shreds and scrutinized in hopes that we can get a glimpse of the future for the pick. Some nonamed guy from saratoga state community college starts turning heads in camp, the board falls in love with him but he ultimately gets cut or sent to the PS and never heard from again til next offseason (unrelated to the draft and this post, but you know it’s coming)

Preseason starts, and then the regular season. People will still be entrenched in the ‘this was the wrong pick’ battle, but everyone knows it takes more than one season to successfully evaluate a pick

That’s my prediction for the melt of today’s pick

Only reason Queen is a first rounder is because this is a light LB draft.

Take Phillips much later.

Just FYI, LSU isn’t the only school submitting players for this draft

re: Predict the melt level of today's pick
Considering many on this board that Burrow was in play up into a few days ago, I expect a ton of illogical melts.

Just imagine if Queen is on the board and the Saints take someone like Brooks.

Always go high. Everyone has their perfect fit picked out and will melt if its not that scenario.

Yeah. I think a situation like that (only because of tRant) or trading up for Love or something are the only scenarios for a bigger than usual melt down here.
