Playing the same team 2/3 weeks

This is becoming more common with all teams. What's the point of it? Do fans really want to see the same matchups in such close proximity? It's even worse when it's the final few games of the season like with the Panthers.

I am pretty sure the NFL did this a few years back to make sure the end of the season games ment something and would prevent teams from resting the marquee players before the playoffs

I know the Saints beat the Panthers 3 times last year. I was referring to the slight possibility of having to play them 3 times in 4 weeks. Not that I think the Saints will be a wildcard team...
