I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here before but does anyone think the Saints should think about getting Peria Jerry in the first round?

Too much money in defensive line already & more need in other areas of defense. Jerry may also be gone by 14th pick. I think he is best DL of this draft.

Not a bad pick. From a philosophy stand point, we have Kendrick Clancy as our plugger/double-team guy and Sedrick Ellis has shown he can be a plugger as well, but also be the one-gap rushing tackle. Jerry is purely a one-gap tackle. He would fill out a nice, 3-man rotation for us. You could have Clancy and Jerry strictly at their spots and then have Ellis pop in at either spot, hence everyone stays fresh and gets plenty of quality reps.

ELLIS
H.THOMAS
B.YOUNG
C.CLANCY
A LAKE
D.REED
PRESSLEY

This kid can play. I would be happy to see him in Black and Gold.

Beter chance we go after Tyson at DE. Our ends have not performed and I'm not sure that we will stay with our two starters.

Jerry was as dominant as Glenn Dorsey in college, just didn't get all the hype.

I'd love to have him, but I don't know if we can invest more money right now in the DL (thanks CG and WS).

At some point in the near future, we will need another DT. Clancy, Young, Lake, etc are not long term solutions at that position.

If he can play safety then why not.

Ellis - legit
Hollis Thomas - old, overweight, and has asthma
Brian Young - injury riddled, is over 30
Clancy - legit, but over 30
Antwan Lake - free agent
D. Reed - r u serious?
Pressley - has a history of injuries in college and hasn't played an NFL snap yet.

Would u mind reconsidering the wisdom of considering drafting Peria Jerry now?

When LSU was losing many years ago it was because the lines were soft. I am a firm believer in building the lines, ala Jim Finks, then working on other areas. I have no problem with Mr. Mississippi.

I've noted elsewhere that I wouldn't be disappointed if they deemed him the BPA/best impact player available. We'd eventually have to get some lineman named Tom to compliment him tho.

I'd be ok with the pick if he was the bpa. I think however if it came down to Jenkins or Jerry the Saints should pick Jenkins to play FS. The need outweighs an slight (and I think it's slight) diffrence in how good they will be.

I wouldn't think this guy was a top 15 pick. Maybe if we had a high 2nd round pick or so. But i'm definitely open to the DT position at any spot in the draft this year. Those who say we are fine there need to check again... saints have showed a lot of interest in the DT prospects in the draft this year.

If the Saints can trade out of 14 and get a second rounder out of it, then I'd be perfectly happy with Jerry in the second round.

I'd shite a brick if we can trade down and pick up Jerry later in the first.

Doubtful he makes it to the 2nd, tho.

He is a beast. When healthy, he was one of the best college DT's I've ever seen...

he's projecting in the 20's currently, the 2nd DT on almost all boards. dunno if he could be BPA at #14 but he wouldn't be an off the wall stretch by any means either.
