I read an article last offseason that stated several GMs had commented off the record that he would never get a HC job, because of his name.

I'm not sold on pulling up a college coach. When has that ever worked? Twice and Pete Carroll was a decent NFL head coach before he went to USC.

He gets paid the same or more than the vast majority of coaches in the league to work a few hours a week, as opposed to working 120 hours a week.
