Old Superdome renovation question (90's?)

I know the seats have always been multi-colored (and the reason why) but it looks like before my time there were actually 3 different varieties of multi-color seats. Reddish in the plaza, purplish in the loge, and grayish in the terrace.
Then sometime in the 90's all the seats became more of the same variety.
What year was this done and what was the reasoning? It looked better before IMO.
Also, did they do this the same time they painted the dividing concrete between the sections and entrances to to the seats those hideous aqua and maroon colors instead of beige? I'm so glad they went back to beige after Katrina.

Have you tried to email Doug Thornton with your list of questions yet?

It's been said that mutil-color seats gave the impression and visual that more people was there, even if the crowd was small. Was mostly for television as it came off that the Dome was always full.

The terrace was hardback seats in the early to mid 90s. Not sure when they went padded

I've said many times that the Dome has terrible sight lines from the end zones. It isn't just the corners. If you sit in the second level behind the walk and behind the goal post, you do not see that back of the end zone period.

Really wish we could get black end zones again. Current ones are ugly

You’re right on. I want to say 1998 or so (Ditkas second year) the padded terrace seats were added.
It was around the time the carpeted exit ramps were replaced with that wax coated expoy surface.
I definitely remember having a padded terrace seat for the 2000 season (albeit 500 level) because I almost broke my ankle jumping on the seat when Hakim “dropped the ball”. Leg got wedges between seat and chair back and took a minute to get it out. Ankle badly sprained
