I’m right on track,” Okafor said at the Saints’ offseason workout. “I should be ready to go by training camp, but honestly, at this point, there’s no rush. We’re just trying to take it one day at a time and make sure that when I do come back I’m right back where I was.”

Part of Okafor’s job this season, he says, will be to help rookie Marcus Davenport. “He’s a Texas kid, so he’s starting off high on the totem pole already,” Okafor joked about the former San Antonio edge rusher who wound up the Saints’ first round draft pick this year.

“He looks like a freak. Everything I hear about him, looks like the physicals aren’t going to be an issue, so he just has to come in and be ready to go and I think he’ll be all right. All you can do is try to give him what older guys gave me. Tell him how this league is, help him with the playbook, any questions he has. Answer those questions honestly, just lead by example and and that’s what I plan on doing.”

I like his attitude. He seems like a solid dude

Agreed. We should be set with both of them taking turns off the edge. Our D-line is going to really good this season.

Haha that's a perfect, albeit gross, graphic representation of my sentiments exactly...well done sir. And I agree, we will have a great defense this year

It's a little over the top, but I thought this news was worthy of the picture.

Great news. He’s a key cog in our pass rush.

What I saw was a end who could hold his side vs the run as good as I've seen in a long time.

He wasn’t as good as Cam rushing the passer but he was just as good as Cam stopping the run. Having said that, Okafor wasn’t a slouch as a pass rusher either. He was well on his way to 8-9 sacks. As a starting DE that we got for cheap that’s pretty damn well.

He’s also apparently really well liked in the locker room. If he can give us what he gave last year and stay healthy, plus a healthy season from Cam and Davenport...we’re going to be nasty up front

Our defense will be better this year , assuming PJ Williams breaks both legs is a freak preseason accident.
