I know drew deserves every dollar that is offered to him but if he walks with a 3yr 18mill a year deal (extra friendly) contract we can add and boaster our roster so much better! I remember Tom Brady took that pay cut a few years back and look how it turned out in the long run. Then with a cut of vacarro saves us 8-9 million! Also if we can get fairly to retire an arbitrator will break his deal down to a injury settlement, saving us a few more million! Ultimately this will trickle a chain reaction, and when we walk into free agency we can take advantage of not having the position of picks we had last year! with cap space to get what we want and snatch playmakers in the draft that will compete for starts!! This will allow drew to have a 2-3year window for the superbowl!!!

It's going to be super fun watching people Melt when Brees gets 25 million per. Because that is what will happen as well he should.

I'd always heard that the union has some influence in contract numbers. They don't want star players going too low on numbers because it will give the owners extra leverage that they night not otherwise have.

That makes alot of sense and Drew is pretty high up in the union. Also, his agent is a notorious hard arse.

We have a young cheap team. We can afford to pay Brees. Stop it

Drew’s contract will depend on if he wants to win the next 2 years or get paid the next 2 years. I’m not saying he should play for cheap but a Little home town savings, and an age discount would help the team. What does Brady make?

Poor Brees. His wife is not a super model and worth $250 million. She is a stay at home mom. How can they put bread on the table with only making $15 million per. They are only a 1 income family. So sad for them

Honestly i' d feel guilty if we somehow signed brees to a lowball contract and he was with it.

He's only got like 4 years max to earn still if that. It'd be a crime to his family and kids to take something like 20 mil when he can easily get 30 on a fa market. A tiny little discount or a team friendly structured contract sure, but pay the guy what he deserves. We are all sitting around moping about a game where he showed he can still work magic when needed.

It's not like alot of these key young players contracts will come to roost during the next 2 years. With our teams structure, we can and should pay him a fair salary.

Yep, if people thought the Vikings game was embarrassing just imagine being the team that low balled their HOF QB because their fans didn't understand fair market value.

I know, poor guy would only be making $20 million a year excluding endorsements and all his other investments that are bringing in several million. I’d feel terrible too

Past history has showed Brees will get every dollar he is worth. He will not take a discount.

Don’t doubt it, but to say someone feels sorry for him for taking less money, is about as dumb as it gets
